2018 Roster

DS,

We have had some differences of opinion from time to time, but never anything so bad that you would denigrate yourself to the level of Chip Brown.

:beertoast:

I swear that guys like Chip Brown have made a living off of making up plausible, totally unverifiable, hypotheticals.

I am going to give it a try:
Toneil Carter Looking to Transfer
He was suspended at one point last year, and my sources say he was not happy about ball distribution before the suspension.

Just you try to prove me wrong! Also, once it becomes apparent that Carter was never going to transfer I can just say that Herman and he patched up their relationship during the spring.

How about that! I got as much cred as ole Chip and I am my own big cigar.
That's the formula in a very precise nutshell. Well put, Detective.

Can you summarize the made up, plausible yet unverifiable, hypothetical that they are selling for us?
Sorry guys....
It is pretty easy to summarize.
Tom Herman is known for liking "alphas"...especially at key positions.
The article doesn't point out Ehlinger as being THE alpha of the two, only states that this is what TH is wanting from the QB position. I'm the one saying Ehlinger is clearly the alpha (not a word I use often or am fascinated with BTW just as it is applicable here) so you can make your own deductions/connections.

Listening to Quan Cosby on the radio yesterday.
Said VY was not necessarily the alpha dog on the team.
Said Casey Studdard was the guy that got you going and ready to run through walls and then VY would calm them down so they could execute.
Said Colt was very quiet.

The above referenced article is a Chip Brown piece, I believe.
So, there's that to consider.

I do hope Herman gives us the best chance to win.
And that may not be the most vocal and aggressive QB.

And I'm with you. I can see where the "alpha" (I actually think the hoopla over this term is kind of silly) would be a guy certain teams need in certain roles...but that it would vary case to case. Definitely not a cut and dry rule of thumb. You bring up an interesting point on Colt, but I don't think being vocal and being the alpha-type necessarily go hand in hand...though it may play out that way more often than not. I see a lot of the same qualities in Colt and Ehlinger and view Colt as having similar swagger...though quieter in spirit.
This is a very interesting topic, I believe, that shouldn't be ignored...these are the sort of things...the subtleties... that help comprise team chemistry (see Major Applewhite vs Chris Simms difference). I, like you, hope TH isn't closed-minded about this or too set in his ways, but have been in the Ehlinger over Buechele camp for some time myself....as I believe it is more of what this particular program/team needs for this particular moment....at least until we see some overall increase in heart, confidence, swagger from other positions. Just my 2 cents...

To add to this I would say that Sam reminds TH of the third string QB that won the championship for Ohio State when he was coaching there a few years ago. I forgot his name but he was a bull and would move the chains with his runs. I believe Sam reminds TH of him. That guy was bigger than Sam though.

Wasn’t that Cardale Jones? I remember he came in late in the season, against Michigan, I think, after JT Barrett and Braxton Miller were lost.
