4th in the Conference and one and done in the tournament might start grumblings.
True this^^. Getting to the next round would be nice. Sweet 16 would be allsome.4th in the Conference and one and done in the tournament might start grumblings.
Just last week, Smart said, “Matt’s still too nice. He’s made a lot of progress with that. But he needs to understand what his teammates need to hear from him is not necessarily always all sugary and nice. It might need to be the opposite of that in certain moments. He’s gotten a lot better, but he still has to overcome his desire to be liked by everyone all the time.”
Scrimmage time: Texas has two upcoming closed scrimmages that are supposedly hush-hush. The NCAA once frowned on publicizing these private events, but those rules have been relaxed over the years.
Texas will play LSU in Houston on Saturday, then host Texas A&M inside Cooley Pavilion on Nov. 1. Typically, the final statistics are closely-held state secrets, but coaches will generally say who performed well afterward.
Texas opens the season on Nov. 6 at home against Eastern Illinois.
At 10:47 a.m., Roach posted a message addressed to “friends, family & Longhorns fans.” Roach said will not participate in UT’s two private scrimmages against LSU and Texas A&M and apologized to his teammates.
“I will not be playing in our two scrimmages and season opener due to my violation last year of our team rules,” Roach wrote. “I want to accept full responsibility and accountability for my actions. I made a mistake and want to own up to it and learn from it.
Gotta admit that I have no idea what Coach Smart meant when he said that he wants Dylan to play without avoidance.
Interpreting coachspeak is kinda tricky sometimes, I guess. Too bad they didn't ask for clarity about that phrase.
The full quote:
“He’s done a nice job with his body and I think it’s added a level of confidence — he’s been arguably our best player in practice,” Smart said. “We want Dylan to be a guy that goes after something, as opposed to playing with avoidance... We want him to have fun and attack and go after having a great year.”
My bad, thanks for the clarification. I agree with your comments and I hope two or three players can prove those lists wrong. I noticed a couple of players from Nevada on a list and the Horns should have put them boys away in the tournament., even without AJ.I think he means for this season, not recruiting rankings.
Coleman was inconsistent in his ball control. He made some poor decisions at critical moments during the season, like his inexplicable attempt to pass to Bamba at the end of the Baylor game. He was trying too hard to cover up for our nonexistent PG elements at times.
The Pig People game on Friday will be a good yardstick. We had about 10 minutes of pretty exciting basketball and 30 minutes of meh.
Lots of newcomers to integrate and no Snoop on the floor, so I'll take it. I'd like to see the exciting to meh ratio reversed really soon though.
