We play tentatively... Scared of making a mistake and getting caught by the revolving door at the scorer's table. There's NO continuity unless we can get in transition and even that is difficult to establish with all the jerking in and out. I get using the bench in an attempt to wear down the opponent and keep legs fresh, but the revolving door is not the way. There’s a hesitancy from all players on the team this year that minimizes the advantage the post player receiving the ball has. Too often a Texas post moves across the paint and gets good position but the player with the ball doesn’t immediately get them the ball meaning their defender can then get into defensive position and/or the double team drops down. I’m not calling out the guards because the other posts do it as well even though they have to know the advantage of getting the ball as soon as they ‘flash’. There was a glaring example yesterday when Jatarie had the ball in the corner and Charli jumped into position on the block with her defender trailing. Jatarie hesitated then passed it to a player on the perimeter. Having the longer, more athletic posts isn’t that big of an advantage if they rarely get the ball before they’re immediately boxed in by 2 defenders.
