2016 recruiting

FWIW, I think the top priority is a true post player like Ciera Johnson or Natasha Mack or a similar type post. Still hoping that Lauren Cox will reconsider coming to Texas but that's a very long shot.
I agree; if we have just one more scholarship to give, I would prefer a post. While we will be okay in 2016 with Lang, Hattis and Aborowa, only Christina returns in 2017. We could sign a post in that class, but IMO it would be better to have a second option with a year of experience under their belts. We will have others who can play inside with Hosey and the twins, but still think the best option is to sign a true post in the 2016 class.

If we are looking to sign a true post in 2016, if I've followed what's been shared previously, there are three uncommitted (that we're aware of) who are currently considering the Horns; in-state players Johnson from Duncanville and Mack from Lufkin, and from out-of-state, Aborowa's former teammate Aiyeotan. Two others from Texas currently uncommitted are Lauren Cox and Brittany Brewer. Though we aren't among Cox's final choices, some are hopeful she'll give us another look, but I don't recall having heard anything about which programs Brewer is considering. Maybe something has been posted previously, but if so I missed it. Interestingly, all four in-state recruits are the same height, 6'4. You would have to think it's likely one of these top recruits will end up committing to the Horns.

I don't recall specifically reading that Aiyeotan was considering Texas; thought it was just that our coaches had been out to see her (while recruiting Aborowa). I could be wrong.

I think Ciera Johnson is the most likely commitment for a true Center. For a Power Forward, seems like Joyner Holmes or Natasha Mack would be at the top of our wish list.

Thought we were still in the mix for Amber Ramirez (along with Tech, TCU, and Washington).

But, a lot of that was prior to Khaleann Caron-Goudreau transferring in for 2015, and Audrey-Ann most likely transferring in for 2016. I still think attrition will reduce the following season's roster by 1 or 2 additional players.

Alecia Sutton did very well at the EBA64 this past weekend:

Alecia Sutton – 2016 – 5-8 – Point Guard – St. Louis, Missouri – Texas commit…Scoring point guard…Lean, athletic and fluid…Crossover and hesitation destroy on ball defenders…Change of speed and direction serve her well…Eyes are up on her attack…Makes good choices in transition as well as off penetration…Pull up is there as is deeper perimeter options.

That pic says something to the effect that the future for Texas looks bright with these 3, so do they know something we don't? Anyone have the inside scoop?

Well, it certainly isn't bad news.

Alecia seems very solid to Texas. Glad Jada was at the camp, as was her very good friend Joyner. I'm wondering if the references to "see you in September" have to do with official visits.

As for remaining recruiting targets for 2016, I think Joyner has to be at the top of our staff's wish list. Probably have one or two open slots at best (always a chance Sara Hattis doesn't use her final year of eligibility if she graduates next Spring).

I think the pool of prospects under consideration is narrowing. I just don't know who's in that pool. I don't think Natalie Chou is part of that group. It could be that Brittany Brewer is higher up on the list that I thought. Ciera Johnson is a true post player, and we could sure use one with Imani graduating.

But, the Caron-Goudreau twins may have changed the needs of our 2016 remaining scholarship(s).

Not sure if the Texas "elite" camp was one day (or more), and the Baylor camp was the next day as some underclassmen made appearances at both camps.

From all reports, Joyner only attended the Texas camp. Lauren Cox and Natalie Chou attended Baylor's camp.

Honestly, it's late June now. Most official visits will begin in September for these recruits. And, NSD is in November. If you are a 2016 recruit, you most likely attended the summer camp of a school you are highly considering. If you didn't attend a camp (and there were no other conflicts), chances are slim you will sign with that school. So, Joyner Holmes and Brittany Brewer could be landing at Texas . . .

What about Ciera Johnson and Zarielle Green from Duncanville? Did they attend the UT camp?

No reports that 2016 Ciera Johnson attended our camp. Other 2016 targets/recruits who do not appear to have attended our camp include Amber Ramirez and Natasha Mack.

This may be blasphamous but i hope if cox and chou arent coming to texas that theyll stay in the big 12 to bring up the level of competition nationally.

New Hoopgurlz 2016 rankings:

Alecia Sutton is #7 and the #3 PG.
Jada Underwood is unranked.

Brittany Brewer, Wylie Post, is at #35

Big 12 Schools with 2016 verbals:

BU has #15 PG Calveion Landrum (5-10).
TCU has two: #45 Kianna Ray (6-0 G) and #87 Mikayla Christian (5-10 G).

good find, 05longhorn. I was trying to find the tweet and found it on her twitter page. Nice to see Texas is still in the mix for her. Kinda surprised that UConn isn't. Natalie was a member of the USA 3x3 team that took silver earlier this month, losing to France 20-19.

Interesting list for Chou; I thought Stanford would be her ultimate choice, but I don't mind being wrong. She did attend Baylor's camp; not sure who else's. I've never had the feeling she'd end up at Texas, but we'll see in a few months.

well, they weren't listing her current favorites but unofficial visits made. And I sure saw her at one the practices this spring so she certainly made an unofficial visit to Texas.

Sure hope she still considers Texas but I think Holmes is more likely to end up at Texas than Lauren.

I recall her attending our game against Tennessee in November, but that was the last time I recall reading anything about her stepping foot on our campus. When you say "spring", do you mean after our season was over? She narrowed her schools to six finalists in mid-April, so that was more than 2 1/2 months ago.

Regardless, even if she was giving us new consideration, we're most likely toward the bottom of her finalists.

I was watching the cy-fair aau game against Christina's old aau team the Philly belles today. And all I have to say is wow, I sure hope we get Joyner Holmes, because I don't care what anyone says she is the best player in the country, just tremendous ability.

Is Aiyeotan playing for the Belles this summer? If yes, does she seem to be progressing?

Couldn't agree more on getting Holmes.

I don't know if she is still on the team, but she didn't play today. In fact, Cy-fair played Nancy and Sedona alot and the Belles decided to play small the majority of the game.
