2016 recruiting

Nice! She's right about one thing, she is not going to be able to "lazy" at all when she gets here. Great to see her interview pretty well and do the "hook 'em" at the end. Can't wait to see those four in that class on campus.

Audrey-Ann had an ankle sprain in practice right after Christmas vacation, and has missed the last few games. But, she is undergoing treatment and should return within the next week.

I posted about it on the 12th. Glad to see that she's back!! Awesome performance for her first game back.

From the Dallas Morning News:
"Texas signee Jada Underwood had 25 points, 17 rebounds and five assists as No. 13 Mesquite Horn beat No. 22 Richardson 66-57 on Friday in a matchup of state-ranked Class 6A girls teams."

According to her AAU coach, Jada Underwood is the REAL DEAL. Although not as highly recognized as Holmes or Sutton, she is going to bring a physical presence and skillset to this team that we haven't seen in quite a while. This is a VERY talented young lady!!!!!

I think ESPN is the only one asleep when it comes to Jada. ProspectNation has her in the Top 50 and other sites that focus on the state rank her higher than a few Texas girls in ESPNs Top 100.

Underwood is the DFW North Texas area leader in rebounds at about 13 rpg She's also amongst the top five in scoring at just over 22 ppg. Pretty impressive and, at 6'0", plays guard, wing and forward if I'm not mistaken.

I think Jada's versatility, strength, and college-ready physique will contribute to her seeing plenty of minutes on the court at Texas next season; hoping she has a healthy finish to her senior season.

Thanks for the link. Jada is filling stat sheets: 5th in points (22.6/game), 1st in rebounds (12.1), 5th in assists (3.9). Ironic that her numbers would probably be better on a weaker team - Mesquite Horn has a few 40+ point blowouts on their schedule so she probably didn't play much more than a half. As mentioned earlier in the thread, a 6A player in the DFW area putting up those numbers has legitimate skill and ability.

Texas signee Jada Underwood had 25 points, 17 rebounds and five assists as No. 13 Mesquite Horn beat No. 22 Richardson 66-57 on Friday in a matchup of state-ranked Class 6A girls teams.

The win by Horn (25-5, 10-1) left the teams tied for first in District 10-6A. Richardson (20-8, 10-1) won the teams' first district meeting by two.

Richardson opened the game with an 8-0 run and led by four after one quarter, but Horn seized control by outscoring Richardson 22-10 in the second quarter. Horn took a 12-point lead into the fourth quarter but had to withstand a huge fourth quarter by Richardson's Arleighshya McElroy.

McElroy, a Texas A&M signee, scored 16 points in the fourth quarter and finished with 30. Brianna Thomas made four 3-pointers and scored 14 points for Mesquite Horn.

Joyner Holmes, Cedar Hill: The 6-3 forward, another McDonald's All-American whom ESPN HoopGurlz rates as the nation's No. 2 recruit, averages 24.9 points and 8.2 rebounds. Holmes signed with Texas.

Jada Underwood, Mesquite Horn: The 6-0 senior, a Texas signee who can play every position, missed the end of last season with an ACL injury. She's averaging 22.8 points, 12.7 rebounds and 4.0 assists.

Cedar Hill will play Colleyville Heritage in BiDistrict Monday at 6 pm in Mansfield.

Mesquite Horn will play Irving in BiDistrict Monday at 7:30 PM at Ellis Davis Field House.

Both Joyner and Jada lead their teams to regional quarterfinals. :hookem:
From the DMN:
Cedar Hill 54, Keller 47 (OT): McDonald's All-American and Texas signee Joyner Holmes scored 19 for Cedar Hill (27-7), and the Longhorns' defense shut down Keller (26-7) in overtime.

Cedar Hill and Plano West will face off 02/23 in the regional quarterfinals

Tonight, I am trecking over to Rockwall-Heath to watch Plano West (Chou) vs Cedar Hill (Holmes) at 6:30 pm. I have seen both play in playoffs last 2 years but not against each other. Since they will be playing against each other for the next 4 years, thought it would be good to see how they match up. Lets pull for the Longhorns (Cedar Hill) and the future Longhorn(Holmes). Will report back to ya'll if there is anything of significance other than the winner.

I'll be at Rockwall-Heath as well. Will be interesting to see how this one turns out. Cedar Hill won earlier in the year.
