Slow and steady may sound like a philosophy but the way I analyze it is this: How many offers do we have out there? I'm sure the numbers are on this thread but I'm too lazy to figure it out. It's like this, if you say, we only have nine because Charlie wants to be sure he's getting a good player, but at the same time if he already has 50-60 offers out there then you can't use the metric of nine players as your argument that his slow and steady philosophy is in play.

When I look a Rivals Ratings from the 2015 class we had 15 guys ranked 5.8 or higher. When you look at the entire class the guys that are playing and looking to be future play makers are the ones in this category (Jefferson, Boyd, Hill, Warren, Burt, Williams, Vahe, Davis, just to name a few). I haven't really seen much at all yet from the guys ranked lower than that. Perhaps they are redshirting or will develop over time.

The 2016 class so far only has 3 guys ranked 5.8 or higher on Rivals. Makes me wonder if we are getting play makers and difference makers in this current class or just solid guys with potential. Somebody help me understand.

:)

I just came from a "stars" discussion on another board and the consensus on Rivals was that they are the least reliable service out there. One of the admins there summed, "Rivals likes to lock in their rankings before seeing senior film. I was underwhelmed by [Denzel Okafor's] junior film but thought he grew a lot as a senior."

OL (14)
Patrick Hudson - Silsbee (Texas) - 6-5, 325 - Baylor

http://www.scout.com/college/texas/story/1598729-updated-longhorns-offers-list

Patrick Hudson: I caught up with Silsbee (TX) Baylor OT commit Patick Hudson recently to see if he plans to officially visit Texas in the offseason and he told me does indeed plan to visit Texas once the season concludes. He doesn’t have a date set just yet but he did say he definitely plans to visit Baylor and Texas and will likely visit Texas A&M officially as well.

Hudson has such strong ties to Baylor it would still be a bit suprising to see him flip from the Bears but if Strong can get him and his family on campus, they’ve got a shot. I said a while back Texas had to land 2 of 3 in Denzel Okafor, Jean Delance, and Patrick Hudson and I feel better and better about that potentially happening. – (Andrew)

I want some commits, now, for Christmas!! I keep checking. I know its not February yet. I know I'm impatient. I am in need of a recruit fix.

Hello, my name is Caryhorn, and I am a longhornaholic.

Would it be too much trouble to add an additional thread with a title something like "new commit/de-commit", with a start date? This to support your good work on this post with a quick update of changes only, from now until the close of recruiting, making it easy to follow changes daily.

Thanks for what you do and I hope that I am not asking too much, but with the stock market in the ditch I am preparing for my future endeavor, panhandling, and I am quite lazy.

Sorry it's taken so long for me to reply - I've been out all day shopping for an eye patch that matches my new peg leg.

Anyway, the answer to your question is yes, it would be too much trouble.

New offers and commits are most always given the date in their thread title; and each pinned positions thread reflects the date that the last recruit was added to it.

What I will try to do to my threads (because you can only do this to your own threads unless you're a Mod) is add a "subtitle" when they comm/decomm. Like this one. That's easy enough and should give everyone a heads-up as to what's going on.

Thanks. That works.
Good luck with that new peg, and be careful where you park it at night. Wood rats are coming indoors to get out of the cold this time of year.

The Duvernays unlikely for Texas

Hemphill, Fowler and Southall have work to do. He is optimistic about Southall.

Here's my suggestion. If UT football has now decided to offer Donovan Duvernay a scholarship in order to insure Devin will come, why can't they offer Patrick Hudson's sister a football scholarship in order to get Patrick to come? Just thinking outside the box.
