2013 Recruiting Commitments and Offers Updates

I can now start this with future updates coming. As I pointed out they are not official until National Signing Day in February next year. It is expected that the class will be between 17 to 22 recruits. I personally feel we will have about 18 for the year. I go by Rivals as my source since they are usually completely official even though others sometimes confirm before they do.

As of today (2-7-12 at 8:00 P.M.) we have 4 verbal commitments and 8 offers (7 in state and 1 out of state). These are as follows:

Interesting that Jr day 1 was more heavy on O and day 2 is shaping to be a little more heavy on D. I wonder if that is strategy play out by the coaches or simply random of when players can make it.

What's interesting to me off of Bill's list of offers is that Manning is the only one that you can say UT is a longshot to land. He's been washed in the blood of the paperclips. Otherwise, it will NOT be a surprise if UT lands any others offered so far.

Pretty sure I saw something about a Manning committing to OU. Then I looked just about everywhere. OU seems to be big on him (but then I guess we are also) I can't seem to find the story (again). Maybe someone "jumped the gun". So far it looks like UT has just the number of offers proffered that they can accept would be something if all took the offers. Thanks for your posts on this.

Mack has pulled in some good classes in the past, but this group and the 2012 class together are the best combination of two classes I have seen. The staff should have everything in place to build a serious contender over the next 2-5 years.

As I understand it, we have between 6 and 8 spots left and we have 6 outstanding offers, one of which is a strong ou lean, and 2 are oos. We will not likely get all 6 of those outstanding offerees. I think in the past we would have hurried up and taken a kid "who really wants to play for Texas." I may be wrong, but I don't think thet're going to hurry up to fill those last, precious schollies. We will get a few of the 6 offered, and maybe wait to see who has a break out sr. season. That's what I think I'm seeing as no one seems to be in a hurry to make additional offers at this point.

The top 3 Florida kids have us on their list, so hopefully we can add them to Bill's list later if mutual interests develops. Laremy Tunsil (top OL in nation), Su'a Cravens (top DB) and Joey Bosa (top DL). It would be a major longshot to get any of these kids but not giving up hope yet.
Update: 4-10-12, appears Joey Bosa is out as he has a top five it appears, my guess is free shoes u. Tunsil must be a longshot also as no chatter about him yet. So it is Sua and Marcel in fla we are still after.
