2008 ATP Tennis Spring Hard Court Season

What a letdown. Federer looked like **** against Fish. Mardy won 3 and 2. I'm happy for Fish, very happy ... but Roger looked like crap. Didn't expect him to lay that bad an egg. Looked like he just wanted to get the hell out of there.

Djokovic beat Nadal by the same score. Rafa played like ****. Probably a bit of a letdown after two tough quality wins over Tsonga and Blake on hards. Djokovic is good, very good ... but Rafa had his chances. Rafa has wins over Djokovic in last year's Frech Open and Wimbledon, as well as the Masters year end. They have split Indian Wells the last two years, and Novak won in Cincy. Rafa still has a plenty lead in points. It's getting closer, but Novak isn't top 2 yet. The Top 2 go down in the semis today. Sucks.

I really hope Mardy makes a match of it and doesn't let Novak run away.

Djokovic is perhaps the world's #1 right now arguably. Novak retired at Wimbledon. Went on to beat Roddick, Nadal, and Federer in succession at Masters in Montreal. Advanced to final at US Open losing to Federer. Won Australian Open this year beating Federer and then Tsonga who was playing unbelievable tennis at the time. He certainly has lost many tournaments in that time frame but 2nd at US Open and then #1 at Australian open with some wins around both of those is more than anybody else can say. Federer is still #1 but he isn't playing his A game lately and I would bet on Djokovic between the 2 right now.

Looks like our resident tennis guru Mike is slacking on this masters series in Florida. The quarterfinals are set:

Roddick vs. Federer
Davydenko vs. Tipsarevic
Nadal vs. Blake
Andreev vs. Berdych

Nobody but nobody beats Andy Roddick twelve times in a row! Roddick beats Federer 7-6 4-6 6-3.

Davydenko with the win. Beats Roddick who had beaten Federer and then whips Nadal in the final.

Really getting interesting as we approach the clay court and summer slam season. All of the guys right behind Federer and Nadal are playing extremely well.
