I know some posters don't like "looking ahead," but I'll risk it

In checking the rosters for next year, only A & M and OSU are losing a significant number of players -

5 for A & M: Reado, Franklin, Gulley, Atunrase, and Pounds
3 for OSU : Cordero, Green, and Wallenmeyer
0 for OK
1 for Baylor: Tisdale
1 for Texas: Bailey
1 for Texas Tech: Myrick.

I don't think 2008 - 09 will be any easier . . . goodness, the off season will be so important. No injuries, please !!!! Stay fit, stay well, stay focused. And have some fun, too.

You're forgetting who we are getting back ... Arriaran.

She will make a huge difference.

I didn't check the North teams -- will see what's up with them later.
Erika will be our not so secret weapon . . . powers that be, please schedule something in the NW !!!!

The way Carla has been playing recently, I expect us to turn the ball over substantially less. That alone is worth ~4 more wins. Erika's shooting and rebounding will be excellent. I'm really curious to see what the schedule looks like. I expect it to be similar to this year...not overly daunting, but a lot of solid teams in the non-conference.

Green is a significant loss for OSU. She is an excellent complement in the backcourt for Riley. She is hard working and consistent.

Coach G mentioned on the radio show that the team was getting some shooters next season, including Erika which would make a difference.

With Erika and Kat Nash in the game at the same time- we'll never see the 2-3 zone.
Won't be as good on defense though. Nash and Erika are not quick enough to defend elite players like EBay is.
Coach G will probably go zone a lot more.

Someone needs to step up in place of E-Bay....
Who will it be??

No matter what we have lacked, we have had a defensive stopper for years....Kayla, E-Bay, to name a few...

We need that as much as we need the shooters, IMHO....

Has anyone seen Ashleigh Fontenette's speed??

I agree that Brit could step up as the defensive stopper. Unlike Coach Conradt, Coach G likes having her stoppers be able to score. I don't think we will have anyone with Brittainey's speed and quickness unless it's Crystal.

Everyone is wondering who will take EBay place.I can tell you now, it will be Yvonne Anderson. So many peoples will be surprise how well Texas will look next year. The post game for us will be off the chain.Look at how well Earneisha Williams is pulling down rebounds now.I believe her knee is much better now. Then you will have Ashley Gayle who will give teams fits when Mickie Demoss gets through with her. Then you have speedy A.Font the other guard who will fight for playing time.Along with those 3 and Ericka back in action. We will be dangerous.

I think Coach G is molding Britt to be defensive player as well as a scorer. The game where we beat OSU Britt was on Riley most of that game. I remember the post game remarks how she mentioned how she got direction from the coaches on how to guard Riley. Britt is a sponge absorbing all the info and executing. On a good execution night on both ends of the floor she is a force to be reckon. Let's hope during the offseason she works on her CONSISTENCY!

The ladies joining us next season will make us stronger and deeper. Watch out Big 12!

I'm also very anxious to see Erika in the lineup. I've heard so much about her. I'm really ready to see her light it up from the outside.

although anything is possible, I too, think a 1/2 for next year is a little ambitious.

Erika is a great shooter. I think Coach G will be able to coact and teach our girls how to set screens for her. We have not set screens too well in the past few years. This should make her better than 2 years ago.

If this off season practice by Erika is any indication, she will be flat out DEADLY from BTA....45 of 50?? Wow!

Glad to hear about Yvonne....

I agree, 3 or 4 seed next year will be fine, BUT

"FIRST THINGS FIRST"....we need a preseason, Big 12 Season, and a Big 12 Tourney first, folks.....hope our Preseason schedule is a bit more challenging, too.
We went from Patsy #1 to U.S. #1 (Tennessee) which is a BIT of a swing, IMHO.

The candidates most likely to take E-Bay's spot are Kat and EA. Both are excellent shooters and provide size. We weren't the greatest rebounding team this year, so I doubt if coach would put such a small lineup out there with Anderson joining Britt and Carla in the backcourt. I think Yvonne is going to helped by giving Carla some rest when needed at the point guard spot. The one thing that we've learned is it's a huge adjustment from high school to college. There are a few Maya Moore's that come out every so often, but it normally it takes a year or two for high school players to develop.

Obviously, the key is to improve each year.

But, in 2010, we host a sub-regional, and the Final Four is in San Antonio. We'll have a very experienced team, and hopefully some very talented underclassmen . . .
