12 Team CFP Finalized

Moronic argument. Without looking tell me last years champs in lower level basketball tournaments. You can't, but that doesn't tarnish march madness.

No one knows the other football champions because unless you went there or live in that city people don't care about anything but D1. Plus D1 is whats on national TV. It's not the ******* football tournaments fault.
No kidding it’s not the tournaments fault.

College basketball is far inferior to college football for many reasons. March Madness is its sell. It doesn’t have much else. The first time that people begin to care about college basketball is after football and when conference starts. That model is not a model to emulate or follow.

You are the one hyping the playoff yet it’s not enough to make any other collegiate sport better than football even though D1 has prospered without it.

There was talk about the 4 team playoff solving issues. It hasn’t that’s why it’s expanded to 12. That won’t do it either.

The next step is mega conferences. Just get to it. Officially converting to mini NFL. That’s great.

Officially converting to mini NFL
You will probably agree that with NIL and the portal, college football is the NFL (professional football) now, but without any restrictions or controls. The definition of free agency. Sign with the highest bidder. Switch teams if you’re not happy, or if someone else will pay more for your services. Ugh.

Yes I do. It’s already a mini NFL. I’m by no means anti-NFL either. Watch it every weekend. Watched the draft.

And I realize I’m the dinosaur. I’d take a home and home at Michigan over playing them in Jerry World as semi-final game any time. Honestly, I don’t really care if we have 3 losses in 12 tries that we don’t get another shot at the championship. If we lose to Bsma, I don’t care that we don’t get another chance. There’s a damn good chance I’ll be there for the final season game against Kansas fighting for bowl eligibility though.

I don’t live in Austin and haven’t for 25 years yet I’ve missed 5 or less games at home over that time. I’ve made many road games. Live games are a part of me. It’s cost money, time and energy.

Bowls are good experiences. The first game of the season is always greatly anticipated. What was a finality in early October was special. It’s been a family event to an extent for all those years. I’m not retired, and it’s a bit of effort to make it happen. But it’s worth it.

It is not cheap. OU is more expensive. As a fan, I have to potentially weigh options. Do I shell out another $500 for a round 1 game? What if we win that, do I shell out another $1,500? Then the championship? I could sell some maybe, but that wouldn’t feel right. Rest assured Christmas planning and what not will be impacted. You gotta think twice about that marquee road game now.

I get it. No one cares. I guess it’s mutual as I don’t give **** about anyone’s opinion who just watches at home. More eyes watching means nothing to me. More corporate impact is not a positive.

In related news, aggy has been eliminated from contention following the Committee pre-season review of the roller coaster.

Wrong,

The playoffs are being put together by the idiots in Indianapolis thinking that an Ole Miss vs UNC matchup in December will be a bigger draw and money producer than Texas/OU or Alabama/Auburn or Michigan/Ohio State. Those cretins have done little right over the last fifty years, and they have humped the puppy yet again. Corporate America will sponsor, buy blocks of seats, and eventually watch their precious playoffs played in front of a live audience of 25,000.

As long as I am able, I shall choose the Belgium waffle with strawberries, whipped cream, and powdered sugar, along with Momma Fernie's funnel cakes, and Fletcher's corned dogs, while watching Texas/OU in that old antiquated stadium over some stale, neutral site "playoff game" against the likes of Utah or State Penn or Wisconsin.

Sure, I want to win a National Championship, and yes, I attended all the road games when Fred was coaching, but for me, OU the best it gets, and while I'm able, that is the first place my money will go.

Only question is how long will it be before the NCAA destroys its cash cow. Football pays for everything. UNC continues to bring in more basketball cash than any other school, but Texas/Alabama will come close to matching UNC's number on one Saturday afternoon.

Sabre,

You crack me up. The Cotton Bowl in October damn near brings me tears. If I were a Make-a-Wish foundation kid, let me run out of that damn tunnel. On that Saturday of course. That’s a special day. A special place. An absolute bucket lister for any sports fan.

I will say I’m awfully partial to the Rose Bowl too. Lucky I was to be there that January 4th.

I too want to win it all. I’ve got a pretty loyal kid who has yet to see a great Horns team. He needs to be there when that opportunity presents itself again. He deserves to be there.

Great back & forth guys.

I want it all: Michigan home & home, OU, playoffs, NC. You name it.

Your, while I haven’t attended anywhere near the number of games you or Sabre have, I have been very fortunate to have seen some great ones, including the Cotton Speyer catch (from the press box), Ricky at Nebraska breaking their 47 game (?) home winning streak, many of the OU games including 2005, the Shoe, and all three Rose Bowls...two of which I really enjoyed…

SH, interest in college football is so high that I don’t think even the NCAA or the Woke folks at ESPN can screw it up. But sadly, they might surprise me.

D1 prospers for the same reason the NFL prospers. Football is king in the US and it is the highest level of competition. If you compare upper leagues of soccer in Europe the popularity is much better at the higher levels.

I disagree completely and believe the current system is an undefinable number of times better than reporters voting on who they think is the best team. That was just dumb for decades. The bowl system pretty much sucks and no one watches them until the last 10 days unless you are homeless or retired.

In my opinion 12 is better than 4 but I've been calling for a 16 team playoff since the beginning of talks over 15 years ago. Do away with conference championship games, go back to an 11 game season and let the playoffs reign.

I have been saying the exact same thing about the 11 games and eliminating conference championships and having a 16 team, well 14 with two byes, playoff.
except I have been calling for an extra 16 team playoff, no byes, in a separate division for the teams that have a hard time getting 5 and 4 star players. Then they will have championship to play for.
2 divisions, 2 champions.
