Someone suggested this and it is something I’ve thought about before so I wanted to get some input.

The idea is to have a separate general forum for Professional Sports, with sub forums for NFL, NBA, MLB, etc.

Some Hornfans members don’t follow pro teams but I think we should have a place for those who do.

What do you think?

The only pro sports info or conversation I personally have an interest in is what various horns are doing in the pros.

Thanks so much Dion!! I don’t follow Professional Sports. Why? Don’t get me started.😀

My knee jerk was to keep it the same . Then I remembered the mention of Cowboys, Mavericks, etc.would draw a few hostile responses from folk who said they didn't belong in this forum.

I don't care either way, but I wouldn't have an issue with it. It would keep On The Field strictly to UT football, which would not suck. Unlike ou.

Can we even tell the difference anymore?
Seriously though, I did vote yes in the poll, and thank you for putting up the poll.

I don't care, but there are so few pro threads i'd likely just forget to go over there. lol (also because my Cowboys are so disappointing)

Dion, I like the change. It should bring the "On the Field" threads back to Longhorn football. And the way you set it up, it's very easy to find the menu for Pro Sports. We'll see how everyone else views the change, but count me as a supporter!

Maybe if there was an NFL forum, all the Cowboy fans could buy Jerrah a sponsorship. After he received three or four hundred of those, he might actually read some of the complaints.

Unpossible! I won't do anything that might result in money for Jerry. I threw away all my Cowboys tee-shirts and ballcaps the day he hired Switzer. Besides, Jerry wouldn't listen to advice from anyone - even the brilliant advice from Hornfans posters.

Horn players in the NFL is about UT.
It’s about former UT players who are now in the professional leagues. If you want to talk about Sam Ehlinger as a Colt then it belongs in the NFL forum. If you want to talk about Sam as a Longhorn then it goes On The Field.

The whole purpose of separating the forums is because some fans here don’t care about the pro teams, even ones with former Longhorns, and don’t want threads about the Cowboys, Texans, Mavs, Astros, etc mixed in with our college sports discussions.

It’s no different than the intersection of politics and sports — the politics of sports will be discussed in the politics forum, the West Mall, and not in the sports forums, even though the two are clearly related.

We even have a poll where everyone can express their opinion on this, and it overwhelmingly supported the separation of the forums.
