Texas High School Football

At least the College Westlake Brotherhood played great and yes I’m chapped!
I know you know this, but for benefit of the board, “Chap” is pronounced “shap,” as in the first syllable of chaparral, not like cowboy pants or cracked lips, or your British pals.

The High Chaparral would sure sound so much different if not.

Wait a minute....

Do you mean Westlake's mascot isn't those cowgirl chaps???

N. Crowley win did not surprise me. I predicted they would beat Westlake.

However , I was wrong about Vandergrift - congrats to them!

No Aledo, Southlake Carroll, Katy, Austin Westlake, Highland Park, Duncanville, Desoto… aside from Carthage the perennial powers didn’t win state championship this year and I love it.

My grandmother’s neighbor, Mrs, Henderson, so dominated the competition at the State fair quilting competition that the judges asked her not to compete.

I know I'm missing some people but I wanted to update and thank everyone for your kind support of my son during his high football career. He has been a joy to watch since he busted an electrifying 60 yard TD run with 20 seconds left to break a 6-6 defensive battle. This was the second game of his career...3rd grade. He hasn't looked back since.

When he decided to join his younger brother, who was born a premature miracle baby (smaller, not as gifted with strength, size, and speed) at a small newly formed private high school, I told him I would support him, but that college coaches would probably stop following him. He said it's okay, "I want to be with Luke". Little did I know, he was betting on himself. Nine CFB offers later, tomorrow Jude will publicly announce his commitment to play for Saint John's University. Other than SJU coaches and just a few family members, I wanted ya'll to know first. From Texas 6-man football to NCAA DIII football. Shame on me for underestimating my son.

He ended his HS career:

*TAPPS Six-Man
- #1 RB DIII
- #2 RB DI
- #5 RB Texas Coaches
- #23 RB National
- All-State RB
- All-Star Senior Bowl Offensive Player of the Game
- Led HS to first play-off appearance
- State T&F 100, 200 (silver), 400 relay

Needless to say, I'm one proud Papa :hookem:

#23 nationally? What, did Tech not offer!?

Congratulations to Jude and his awesome parents & family. Lots of hard work, love, and belief in what could happen. When I coached kids in football and baseball, and then with my grandson, I would tell the boys that, "All I ask of you is to be able to walk off that field, look your mother in the eyes and tell her 'Mom, I tried my best' ".

I have no doubts that Jude never had any trouble doing that to his Mom or you. As we say in East Texas, "He done good", and so did y'all..

Somebody’s cutting onions in here. Wow.
Having the privilege of watching Jude’s developments and highlights over the years, this is not at all surprising. Thanks for sharing with us LC. That boy is fun to watch.
I hope you’ll keep us posted going forward.

It was fun following Jude this year. And being able to vote for him
But this news is just outstanding. :trophy: And now we get to follow the Johnnies. I see Saint Johns has the second highest winning percentage in Div 111 football so he is going to a good program.
Will you be able to attend any games?

Awesome to hear this!

WOW LC!! That is really awesome! I can't believe he is already graduating. Even though I've never met him I feel like I have over the years through hornfans and am very proud of him. Congrats and I know he's going to be a beast up there!!

:hookem::hookem:

LC - congratulations on what is an amazing job you and Mrs. LC have done raising the family amigo. Even though we've not met (and we need to rectify that some day), I can tell God has blessed all of you abundantly. Now it's time to watch him tear it up at the next level!
