This team is what it is. Pretty much equal stretches of horrendous play and good to outstanding play. They have done that all year. It was covered up before conference play by the low quality opponents except Marquette and Uconn. The Uconn game is replaying over and over in games against ranked conference opponents. There is nothing in what they have done so far to suggest that they will go on any type of run. They will probably steal one road win against the ranked team they have road games with and lose another at home they shouldn't.
My concern is that this is what we are going to get from Terry every year. The entire roster will again be a complete turnover as I doubt Mitchell or Hunter return, Abmas, Disu, Shedrick, Horton, Brock will all be moving on. I put it at 65-45 in favor as to whether the highly rated recruits make it on campus. Terry will have to do much better in the portal coming off a rather down year (I don't count on this team making the tourney but lots of opportunities left), when he whiffed on higher level portals such as Olivari from Rice coming off an elite 8 run which probably would have been final 4 except for the Disu injury (I don't think anyone this side of the NBA was beating Uconn at the end of last year). In any event, that will lead to more inconsistent play next year. The Sec is not as strong a basketball conference as the Island of misfit toys, but it is not a weak basketball conference and similar play next year will produce similar results, which has been Terry's norm over the course of his head coaching tenures.
