2020 Recruiting - Football

Sounds like DE Alfred Collins (Bastrop Cedar Creek) and DE Vernon Broughton (Cypress Ridge) will both go to aggy for their spring game during the day on Saturday and then head to Austin for the Texas spring game that night. They say Collins was also on the UT campus last Saturday for the scrimmage.

I like this list! Hey if we get Earle, Prince, and Princely we will have a noble, aristocratic class that can ball!

We also made the top 10 for RB Jo’Quavious Marks (5'11,190) from Carver, GA (this follows on the heels of Georgia RB Kobe Pryor putting us in his top 10 a couple days ago)
Marks is the #135 overall, #12 RB per the 247 Comp

"A 2 year All-District player and Texas Football commit, Jake brings great leadership and passion to his craft, along with a nasty mean streak."

Wooten is also coming for Spring Game -- here is Justin Wells on him

LB Robert Wooten, Stafford: The violent, tackling machine is big on Texas, but Dorbah might be the only b-backer take in this class. I wouldn’t mind if the staff made room for this guy.

TE/ATH Jalin Conyers of Gruver is coming to our Spring Game. A very interesting prospect from a little town in the Panhandle. Is also a D1 recruit in baseball and maybe even basketball. Probably will get an offer.

Jalin Conyers, Gruver, Tight End
Gruver is North of Amarillo, my home. Glad to see some interest from the Texas coaches up here again! It’ll be hard to pry him away from Oklahoma or Oklahoma State or maybe Tech. There is some talent up here! Akers recruited well up here but it’s been largely forgotten

Here is Joe Cook on our most recent commit --

"ATH Jaden Hullaby, Dallas Bishop Dunne

I believe the best case scenario for Hullaby is he becomes Chris Warren with give-a-darn.

Warren flashed some ability late in 2017 to be that h-back type player that would provide an additional constraint for defenses to have to worry about. He wasn’t likely to get carries, but he could if needed. He also was imposing and had blocking ability, but was one of the offense's best backfield/matchup threats because of his size.

Hullaby can be that, but it will take a while to realize that potential. He provides a positive step for Texas recruiting Bishop Dunne, a school that regularly fields P5 prospects. He addresses a need. Clear targets at tight end for the 2020 class haven’t materialized yet, so the Longhorns gained a commitment from someone who could serve as another positional hybrid in place of the tight end on the field.

He isn’t the sexiest take, but he won’t be playing a sexy position at Texas.

RB Tahj Brooks (5'9,212) from Manor -- Umanmielen's teammate.
Tahj Brooks, Manor, Running Back

Maybe he's pretty good, but if he's the hottest topic in his city he doesn't have to tell everyone he's the hottest topic in his city.

247 has him as a hard Tulsa commit, but a crystal ball to TCU then he's visiting us this weekend. Good for him working the system to a better opportunity if it works out for him.

"The violent tackling machine..." you say. Count me as interested.

We will be holding another satellite camp at Cal Lutheran again this summer -- June 7
This is just great. For an encore, we'll plant a huge Longhorn flag in the middle of the USC campus!

Maybe we start inviting the Mater Dei and John Bosco kids (not just athletes) to UT academic camps or host other special high school events for them. Fly them in. Build on the UT buzz out West. Make it the cool thing to do--go to college at The University of Texas. We're the "IT" school. Play it up to our advantage.

Sounds kind of like Danny Young.

Those ******** in College Station better not keep them occupied and tied up* after it's time to leave and head to the real game in Austin.

* 'tied up' meaning figuratively, of course. Although with that cult in College Station you never know.
