aggy's 1939 championship is as legit as possible for that era. They were picked by over a dozen selectors including the AP.

Bama claims a NC for every poll or "selector" that ever named them. There have been lots and lots of polls. Using Bama's philosophy, we could claim 1914, 1941, 1968, 1977, and 1981. In fact, Wikipedia shows us with 9 NCs.

This is the method aggy used to go back and claim 1919 and 1927, which is probably what Joe Fan was talking about (instead of 1939).
