Missing Hill is a big deal

Three weeks ago I was fairly confident we would win against TTU and WVU in close, hard fought games; mainly due to our defense. After watching the KU game I have gone from Code Yellow--moderat winning worries to Code Red-- totally worried.

Our pass Defense was noticeably worse without Hill. TTU and WVU are now licking their chops. ku scrambled and scratched and came up with 28 points, I think there is a good chance ttu and wvu will score at least that many. And there is no doubt that the ttu and wvu defenses are better than ku.

Its going to be a dogfight to get to bowl eligible. And we need that to help keep what recruiting mojo Herman still has after a very mediocre season. :confused2: :brickwall:

This team has under produced and doesn't deserve to go to even a minimal bowl. Two of our wins are over a team that likely couldn't beat Carthage, and one that wouldn't make the State 5A quarterfinals.

Spare me what the four weeks of extra practice are worth. Herman, et al had four weeks in the spring, three weeks in August, and eleven weeks this season. If these kids ain't got it by now, it ain't happenin'.

And, yes, I am old enough to remember when Paul Bryant told our coach, "if a bowl thinks enough of you to invite you, you are not too good to refuse".

what IS frustrating is this team DOES have the ability to hang ... it's been demonstrated ... and I don't think we've devolved into an "overlook" team yet to account for our "hard fought aggy victory." Certainly not with USC. They wanted to mudhole us, they couldn't and nearly got beat for the second straight time ... with a true FROSH QB making his 2nd start!

IDK ... I'm at a loss to understand the whys/hows. The intricacies of how a given college football coach thinks, let alone ours in particular.

Sam brings the element of uncertainty into the offense. You never know when he is going to scramble and make a nice off schedule play. Our porous O line definitely needs that extra bit of help.
