And none of these losses were remotely close. Yesterday's score may as well have been 24 to negative infinity. Once we fell behind by two scores, the game was over.
 
aye .... seems we have a mental block on a bootleg pass downfield. Boo is fast enough. He showed that a few times yesterday, but he's not quick enough to dodge 3 pass rushers in the pocket simultaneously (not sure VY is, but that's speculation, he didn't have to)

This offense REPEATEDLY saw success in downfield passing ... real LOS-attacking runs (I like this frosh, Young) ... then with 3/3 or 2 ... we'd revert to sideways ball ... or have a penalty!

It must be a rule or something ... cannot repeatedly attack the LOS. Must use misdirection/trickeration/MILFORD to keep the highlight reel loaded ...

Since TCU joined the Big 12, we've scored only 76 points on them - 12.7 per game. And if you take out the one year with Case when we put up 30, it drops to 9.2 per game.

Not only that but apparently TCU has scored 180 to our 76 since joining.

I grew up in FW and can tell you that, from my experience, other than the Jim Wacker years, TCU was never a blip on the RADAR. I am not a fan except next week against mobilehoma.
 
Remember two years ago before they hung 50 on us with an injury depleted squad, Patterson said before the game, "We've beaten better with less."?
They're still better than us.
 
Boy, amazing how many positives Case brought us to be so discredited by Horn fans. I always liked the guy but cringed when he threw the long sideline out pass.

Growing up in FW I attended many frog games from the early 60's - early 70's and not only were they AWFUL ( most years) & not on the radar, but most teams other than Bailor knew they would score a lot of points on them. Jim Wacker in the mid-80's was the first glimmer of hope that program had some life still in it.

Edit: remembered Horns scoring 69 points in 1969 and 81 points in 1974. So I looked up horn wins over tcu in the 60-70's. From 1968 thru 1974 the Horns scored: 47, 69, 58, 31, 52, 81 points during that span.

Despite beating the Horns I will be pulling for the toads to beat the great unwashed crimson hordes from Norman.

Our family moved from Dallas to ft worth in '67 when I was 11 The Steve Judy years iirc. Norm Bulaich was a decent rb, but few players of note played at goat hills from the mid 60s to about '83 when wacker's purchases came about.

Tcu football simply didn't exist in DFW. I remember going to the tcu -smu game at Amon carter in '67 or '68, there might have been five thousand people in attendance after halftime. Weather was cool, fair weather fans took off.

It's hard to accept that we got here (light yrs behind tcu), but we're here. Looking forward to better days that's for sure.

Steve Judy was from Longview if memory serves correctly. He was a pretty decent QB but on terrible frog squads . Norman Bulaich was a good RB that ended up playing in the NFL - Baltimore Colts if I recall.

Texas is down and TCU is pretty good on both sides of the ball. I have faith in Tom Herman. It is all about our depleted offensive line and young and injured quarterbacks. If we lose to Kansas next week, I'll retract......

Yes sir, Big Boo as he was called played for the colts and Dolphins. I remember he used to sign autographs for jack Williams Chevrolet several weekends a year during his tcu days. I'm sure he got more than minimum wage under the table for those sessions (wink)

Remember Jim Pittman? The froggies hired him for the 71 season, he had a pretty capable staff and they showed signs of improvement early on. He died of a heart attack on the sideline of a game

He was one of DKR's assistants before going to tcu. He hired the head coach at my high school as an assistant ( tommy runnels). Poor choice by tcu to hire Billy Tohill as Pittman's successor. Tohill wasn't up to the task. Pittman death kept that program in the cellar for another ten plus years.
 
DKR's 65 recruiting class was more than loaded, and on of the best in school history. TCU got Bulaich, a giant from LaMarque (anyone remember the kick hitting the crossbar) who ran a 9.8 100. Also picked up Ross Montgomery from Midland, who played many years with the Bears. Montgomery was equal to Bulaich in size and about a tenth second slower in the 100. The crown jewel of that class was Gene Mayes from Garland, who Dave Campbell proclaimed the best HS OL in Texas history. Had tragedy not struck, watching the two huge RBs running behind Mayes and Pat Walker would likely had been a thing of beauty unless it was your defense on the field.

Ironically, that groups last game against Texas in Amon Carter, produced a record day for Chris Gilbert, in a game where the entire sideline had its back to the field because of two small "transistor radios" in the stands with everyone listening to Baylor beat Tech in Waco - Tech was in first place in conference.

Does anyone know what ever happened to that hotel maid in Waco? I always hoped she never had to work another day in her life.

But TCU is the best it's been since the 30's coinciding with a pretty dark time for us.

Sure, it's not pretty but are we surprised?

At least Patterson seems to be a class act. I'm much more comfortable with his team winning than Baylor/Briles. And at least TCU has the showgirls. Cracked me up at the game - they announced the entry of the showgirls through the tunnel almost as prominently as the team. Poor cheerleaders didn't get a mention.
 
Playing "what ifs" - what if that arrogant ***** governor had been indicted and TCU had been an original member of the Big XII? Would Patterson have been able to do more or less than present accomplishments?

Just food for thought when your football team languishes in something less than mediocrity.
 
My money is on TH beating FatPat numerous times in the future.

I see a huge increase in FatPat pulling his pants up along with increased profuse sweating on the sidelines when playing Texas in the future.

I keep thinking of what that cheater Jackie Sherrill(sp) said at A&M when getting whipped his first year ..."You better get your licks on now".....

I kind of think that's where we are now, without the cheating of course.
