2023-24 Transfer Portal Thread (CLosed-Opens APRIL 15TH)

The Williams process reminds me of the wining and dining my wife and I received when she got her MBA. Several companies put on a great show. There was one company in particular that really spent on us: private corporate jet, $3,000 dinner, hotel suite, hockey game suite, etc. It felt like we could ask for anything. And she turned the job down - mostly because it was in Minneapolis and we were afraid of the winters. It’s hard to imagine that anyone could pamper a recruit more than Texas but the reality is there are multiple factors at play. If this comes down to Texas vs OU, it’s really hard to imagine that we wouldn’t win this recruitment if nothing more than because of the recent success of Sweat and Murphy.

OTF said the official visit for TCU DT Damonic Williams went as about as well as it could have with everything from the program, culture, Coach Baker's presentation, Texas' need for a DT and Sark.

He should be seeing LSU next and possibly Missouri.

There are two other potential DTs in the portal currently the staff is monitoring.

With spring practice over, I guess there is no rush until summer school starts (first Wednesday in June if I recall).

Applying logic to these situations can be an exercise in futility.

On the surface, Texas seems like a no-brainer. We’ve got a player at the same position who might be the first defensive player chosen in the draft tonight. Murphy will almost certainly be the first DL chosen. That’s William’s position…!

Next, there’s little doubt that Texas will be competing for national championship this year, or at least deep in the conversation. I don’t believe that can be said for Oklahoma, LSU or any other schools not named Georgia, Ohio State, or Oregon. As a player trying to make a decision, I wouldn’t mind being told that I might be the final piece of the puzzle.

Then there’s Austin, and the network available to him after he graduates.

What we don’t know is what stimulates and motivates Dominic and his family. In fact, some players could be overwhelmed by the treatment he received over the past 24 hours. They could also be overwhelmed by the magnitude of the Texas program versus a smaller operation, or a smaller city. And finally, Bo Davis is a compelling individual, and it sounds like Bo is going to have a shot at him as well.

So who knows? This one might be a nail biter.

My personal opinion is that Sydir needs to give it one more year of weight training and good nutrition to change his body before pulling the trigger on a transfer.

Sark is obsessed with maintaining his culture.
Mitchell's "buy-in" hasn't always been there.

If it's a culture conflict and not just a PT thing, then that changes things for sure. I'm not tied in deeply enough to know where Sydir fits in the culture club.

Dude, shut it down.

Reminds me of the joke about the women in the husband store…
Sounds ffunny.never heard it. I pray Dom wasn’t fed an overhyped Whataburger. Don Williams leads us to the Hallelujah Trail.

OTF said the other two DTs are both from Michigan State.

Each player has talked to the Texas staff, but only Barrow has discussed visiting next week.

Simeon Barrow Jr., Michigan State, Defensive Line

Derrick Harmon, Michigan State, Defensive Line

OTF reporting nothing has changed to this point with TCU DT Damonic Williams.

They believe Texas leads Oklahoma, he'll visit LSU tomorrow and Tuesday and then make a decision on Wednesday/Thursday.

The convicts can surround their QB with all the weapons they want, but until they surround Mario with enough people to keep him from coaching, they will remain an 8-4 team.
