YouTube comments

I wish YouTube would just do away with letting people comment on videos. The typical YouTube commenter is obviously not mature enough to handle the open forum.

No matter what the video is about...whether its an Obama commercial or a panda sneezing...the discussion ALWAYS turns racist or anti-(insert your country here).

This happens 100% of the time, without fail. Even with the voting system they have in place (similar to Digg), there is just no meaningful comments.

Here's a typical thread:

stupidgirl1: lol funny panda. i luv pandas!
eagles08: save the Japanese dolphins!
steve12: F*** dolphins, i hope they all die
vballsally: teeheehe funny vid! "Achoo" rofl!
pyrodude: You Americans are go to hell. Osama is better than you all. 9/11 was awesome.
bigdog_02: hang minorities

I knew that was where you were going when I saw the title of the thread. You're right. I understand anything political is going to evoke harsh comments from both sides. However, it amazes me that the most apolitical topics (i.e. your panda example) can turn into an anti-American, racist thread.

Hell, I looked up a soccer video the other day and it turned into an anglo/hispanic racist word-war.

Yeah, reading YouTube comments is kinda like watching a train wreck. A train wreck that is disjointed, racist, nonsensical, and completely lacks the use of proper grammar. Maybe not so much like a trainwreck but more like reading text messages between a thirteen year old girl and a klansman.

I was about to make a thread about this very subject. Unless they can be moderated, they shouldn't be allowed. Youtube comments make me wish for the day that the human race has another bubonic plague that wipes out a ton of people or that a superior alien race turns us into pets.

Oh and the Soulja Girl video too. Perry Farrell had it right - "Some people... should die. That's just unconscious knowledge"

If you dont like them why do you read them? With the quantity of videos uploaded it wouldnt be possible to moderate the comments.

Don't you physically have to scroll down to see the comments..... seems pretty easy to watch a video and not ever see the domments about it

FYI: The person who uploads the video can moderate the comments.

Also, this isn't really racist but I have an old video of Charlie Kerfeld on my youtube account, and this one drunk guy (a mets fan) posts on it every couple weeks or so like he's just watching it for the first time. The Link (MANSHOTS)
