Your Reaction to Eastwood Speech?

I thought it was bizarre. It made me feel sorry for how old my hero, Dirty Harry, has become. It certainly wasn't one of Clint's best performances, as he stumbled and stammered through it.

Sadly it may have diverted attention from Rubio and Romney. Also, since 99.9% of Hollywood Celebrities are demos, I've got a feeling the Repubs may have opened Pandora's box.

I didn't see it that way. As for the stammering, he's 82 years old now. The man that gave the speech has more in common with the character he played in Gran Torino than the one he played in Dirty Harry. And guess what? The former character is more realistic and easier for joe sixpack to relate to.

It was a creative speech, using a chair for a prop. And the message was something the common man can relate to; the President broke promises, his policies failed, and it makes sense to make a change.

Now as for Romney's speech - I listened to only portions of it as I tuned back and forth to ESPN - the initial part came across to me as stilted, artificial, and non-genuine.

I did listen to the end of Romney's speech, and quite frankly found it to be something one would expect to hear from a war monger.

Romney's five boys are over 30 years of age, and his grandchildren are too young to be in the armed forces. However, for someone seemingly so ready to call on Americans to sacrifice their lives for the country, I'm wondering if he'd be as ready to send his own on to the front lines.

Eastwood's presentation was awkward to say the least. He needed on over those old fashioned gong show hooks. The rambling ad-hoc nature which he fashioned his speech with made me question who vetted his content.

He also went 2X longer than expected cutting into the 1hr worth of primetime from Rubio/Romney. Overall it was a big mistake by the organizing committee. He should have been a day 1 mid-day presenter.

Eastwood's picture is on the front page of the SA Express News this morning. He is referred to as the "Chair Man". They also define a new word "Eastwooding". Defined as posing with a chair as if to harangue".

He looks great for 82, but the speech was very awkward. He was scattered and seemed like he improvised the whole thing. I don't think he hurt Romney, but I don't think he helped him either.

Have heard alot about this, so am watching now, and will leave my reaction:

1. Large crowd applause. I am guessing a larger reaction to the other speakers which is sad considering he is a celebrity only and this is a convention for the Republican party. But that is America today...we love our TV stars
2. Eastwood points that out saying "save some for Mitt" and the crowd just laughs at that.
3. Says the current administration hasn't done enough for jobs but doesn't mention why we are in this situation to begin with due to last administration and then says it is time for somebody else to give it a shot....hmm short term memory
4.says Obama had a stupid idea of trying terrorists in downtown NYC. Personally I think that would be justice, but what do I know
5. knocks Obama for not bringing troops home from Afghanistan sooner but doesn't mention again why they are there in the 1st place or why we weren't bigger there compared to Iraq in the 1st place. But again, short memory, or seletive memory.
6. suggests that Obama would like to tell Romeny to "go **** himself" What a hack attack
7. says Biden "is a grin with a body behind it". Again no substance there
8. says it is time for a "business man" to takeover. Well, worked out well when Bush took over didn't it.
9. Says President should take a smaller plane around than that big gas guzzler. What are you stuck in 1950?
10. Says politicians are employees of the people and comes around begging for votes and if they don't do the job we need to let them go. Fair enough, but why Romney?
11.

Overall he was entertaining. But there was little if any substance there to get riled up about. He is just another old rich white guy with gray hair who is telling the American voters to vote for another old rich white guy. Uninteresting.

Clint is pro-choice, pro-gay marriage, anti-war, and is an environmentalist.

I think he was at the wrong convention.

Idiot......made me wonder what he had been

Thinking he might have gotten some of that bad stuff!
