I overheard my younger kid watching Phineas and Ferb, where Candace's boyfreind inexplicably breaks off her date with him and her fears of rejection sky rocket after reading Tween Bleep magazine. The boys try to cheer her up and a song ensues at some point that is really really good in a Scooby Doo, 1960's, Banana Splits, Japanese pop sort of way.

Link, skip to minute 7 and make sure you'v got good bass

I liked the one sung by that stupid buzzard that goes "i'm bringing Home a baby bumblebee". You have to be old like me to remember it.

As far as theme songs go:

Jonny Quest
Spider-Man
Underdog

The Tra la la Banana Splits song is great, and the Dickies do a classic cover of it and the theme from Gigantor

The Johnny Quest theme is great, I hadn't thought about that in years.

I also liked what we called the "bulldog song" from the Warner Bros cartoons. In the Sylvester one "No Not Roll Out the Barrel!" it's the song played as the bulldog is dragging the cat to his punishment.

Spongebob:
F is for friends who do stuff together
U is for u and me
N is for anywhere and anytime at all
Right here in the deep blue sea

Plankton:
F is for fire that burns down the whole town
U's for uranium ... bomb
N is for no survivors...

Oh man, YouTube is e-crack.

The Astro Boy link reminded me of a couple of Japanese toons that I used to watch when I was at my babysitter's house in Cleveland circa '69/'70. No more than three years of age.

Kimba the white lion, who was always at odds with the gnarly gang of Wild Dogs, who I thought were immensely cool. His dad seemed to be kind of like Bambi's father, strong and iconic, but absent most of the time.

Then there was Marine Boy, who went to war with all sorts of crazy underwater villains and creatures. The graphics were pretty stout, as I recall, and he could swim underwater using oxygen gum, which, in our childish play, we aped via Dentyne. He has a fat daddy-type ala Pops from Speed Racer. I think the whole show was an underwater analogue for Speed and his brother, Rex Racer X.

I haven't seen Kimba or Marine boy in almost 40 years. You tube is ridiculous. I feel strangely like crying after hearing those sing-songy themes and recalling the three of us on the hardwood floor of that Cleveland apartment. I could hardly wait for that **** to start, along with Speed Racer and Ultra-Man. I'm grateful that it happened once since it will never happen for me again.

There can be only one:

Flintstones. Meet the Flintstones.
They're the modern stone age family.
From the town of Bedrock,
They're a page right out of history.

Let's ride with the family down the street.
Through the courtesy of Fred's two feet.

When you're with the Flintstones
you'll have a yabba dabba doo time.
A dabba doo time.
You'll have a gay old time.

Definitely the aforementioned Super Chicken. As somebody described it to me, "The drama of Wagner, the beauty of Tchaikovsky, and chicken sounds, to boot!"

And another Banana Splits tune, with the greatest-named combination musical instrument of all time:

The Link

And one more, a cartoon featuring "I Love to Sing-a," a tune that was used in the first South Park episode:
The Link

You all have it wrong.

"Three Little Bops" is the rockin'ist cartoon ever
