Your DNA or Cell as art.

I watched a CSI:NY episode on the dvr last night and a person had a big picture of their DNA displayed as art. So I went online and found these two sites that look interesting.

One offers your DNA as well as fingerprints as art and the other also offers photos of your cells. Obviously they enhance with color and can change the presentation to suit your tastes.

when i was in new york the metropolitan museum was offering the chromatography picture done for a ridiculous amount of money ($500?). I understand lab equipment (centrifuge, electrophoresis gadget or whatever) and framing (acid and UV proofing? is that like rustproofing a car?) are expensive. but seriously.

to me, the chromosome picture is a lot cooler than the chromatography one, since its at least a picture from a microscope. still don't know if i'd pay what they're probably asking, though.

I dunno, 300 bucks for a portrait is not that much if somebody like the picture. Some sort of look like fractals, which I think are cool. For a fingerprint it is just under 200 bucks. It is personal.

While it is not cheap, I don't find it outrageous. 500 is a bit much but then again anything bought in a museum type place will be steep.
