On cable television right now. Gene Wilder, Marty Feldman, Teri Garr, Cloris Leachman, Peter Boyle, Madeline Kahn, Gene Hackman. I forgot how funny this movie is.

I watched it recently and had never realized it until that time that Gene Hackman played the blind man in the beard.

Mel Brooks is the 'King' of comic presentation.

I show YF every semester in my Study Skills class. It is chock-full of people who are "living by their pictures" and we use it as a learning tool.

Plus it's just downright funny.

"I suggest you put on a tie!"

flaco: yes, with my humble apologies to Mel. I just hadn't seen it in about 25 years.

"No tongues."

"Yes, yes. Say it! He vas my BOYFRIEND!"

That cast had to be a blast to work with - Wilder, Terry Garr, Cloris Leachman, Madeline Kahn...

TO THE LUMBERYARD!!

Nice grouping

I must qualify my admiration of the genius of Mel Brooks when it comes to YF and BS, BUT he could turn out some outright **** too see Robin Hood Men in Tights for example. But when he was on....... pure greatness. But then again name me one movie maker who hit a home run every time up.

"Nice hopping"

"Give him an extra dollar"

"Taffeta darling, taffeta."

"Ah sweet mystery of life at last I've found you"

There was a group of us that used to get together about once a month for dinner back in the 80's. We must have watched this movie 30 times. We'd all quote the jokes along with the movie. Another favorite that we all had memorized was Aurthor.

What fun!

If you realy want to appreciate it even more, go watch all of the original Frankenstein movies first (Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein and Son of Frankenstein) before watching Young Frankenstein.
