I don't have a dog, but some of my cats are special. Some are not.

When I lived in LA most of my friends were women, many of them very smart. We could be sitting around talking about anything from trivial bs to something fairly deep, but the second the TV flashed a bunch of dogs for a commercial or a show, they all just melted into little girls: "Puppies!"

Dog parks are dumb and a waste of money.Dogs should not be in restaurants , ballparks , etc.
 
I just hate the culture of dog worship, especially in old people. The boomers definitely treat their mutts way better than they treated their kids. I could start a whole new thread with this rant if it didnt make me so sick.

Also, who ever said a freaking dog should be afforded the same safety considerations as a human being. I cant drive my lab mix 2 blocks in the back of my truck to the park with out some self righteous ninny telling me "you shouldn't do that......its unsafe" No quarter for these ******* (pun intended). I shout " My dog loves it, mind your own damn business "
 
let's get this great topic back on track. dogs don't pay taxes , so we shouldn't build a park for 'em
 
^^^ I was at Geronimo's, a casual Santa Fe restaurant known for its guacamole, last week and someone brought two big dogs to the outdoor seating area. It turns out Santa Fe passed an ordinance stating that people could bring dogs to restaurants with outdoor seating. Kind of sucks for me and equal to or worse than sitting next to a smoker at an outdoor restaurant.
 
I think it's cultural. I like dogs in outdoor seating and am ok with it as long as the dog behaves ok and isn't barking or running around.

California is very dog friendly- the NorthEast is not. Texas is somewhere in the middle.

I like dog parks, dog beaches and am ok with my tax dollars supporting it- for the record as my dog doesn't pay taxes, but I the owner- sure as hell do when I'm paying for things for my dog.

I am one of the biggest dog lovers in the world and the only thing the government should be invovled in with pets and animals is Animal Control. Government should not be in the business of dog parks. Dogs at restaurants, outdoor, as long as they are clean and not disturbing anyone, I have no issues. I have the same opinion of kids at restaurants, as long as they are clean and not bothering anyone, it is ok.

Story on the news tonight about a restaurant in Monroville PA, no kids under 6 years old.
 
That PA restaurant is right on ! Kids are a pain in the *** at restaurants.

Let 'em go to McDonald's and Chuck-e-cheese , that's it.

Dogs generate tax money- every grocery store has an entire isle to selling dog products, vets etc- probably generate 100x in revenue vs. the costs of a handful of dog parks in each city- which us humans enjoy too.
 
Uh, people and dogs have been hanging out together for some 15,000 years.

You're fighting a futile battle, young padawan.
 
I'd rather have dogs on airplanes than kids. There is nothing worse than a screaming infant on a long flight, except maybe a slightly older child with a totally indifferent parent.

Good points on the tax revenue at stores, there's HUGE money in pet toys/treats/food. Employment for pet chain stores, vet clinics. Maybe that is the secret to the unemployment crisis, we need everyone to buy a puppy.
