Yikes! AM sailboat missing

This really sucks. I hope they are okay and that their families don't have to wonder and worry much longer...because all will be okay.

Texas, the State, the Republic and the Rival is with the Aggie family on this.

The sailboat is not missing, the crew members are. I hope they got the life raft inflated in time and all got on it safely.
 
Prayers for the missing saIlor. I hope the find him ... the six divers in Indonesia were found alive, so there is hope for this young man.
 
What knocks the keel off a 40 foot boat? I don't understand how that could have happened unless they grounded.
 
I am sure that things go really fast and frantic. No matter how much training you have, nature is the X factor. Things don't always go the way you plan them to go in these scenarios. That this many were found so far is a great thing and a testament to their training and ability. That the other may have been below deck or not part of them does not mean he was less trained or competent. He was just in a bad place at the wrong time. I hope he is found alive and soon.
 
my fears would be if he was below deck during the capsize that he lost obvious footing and hit his head.

but that doesn't explain why his body was not inside the boat. he had to have gotten out one way or another and i'd certainly sit on top of the boat awaiting rescue. i'm also worried that the survivors didn't tie up to the boat waiting for him to come up. (you can untie/cut the rope if the boat started to go under)

a lot of questions, but i'd imagine the all around darkness made things very difficult even for highly trained sailors.

man i hope he is found.
 
I've read about instances of keels separating from the hull of the boat (they way you might have read about airplane engines just falling off). The boat is suddenly very unstable and there isn't any way to anticipate the force and speed at which the boat may capsize.
 
That was spooky looking and puts into perspective the comments about trying to find the equal of basketballs which are only heads that surface over the water usually. Can you imagine those guys all of a sudden hearing a chopper nearby and then turning on the flashlight, hoping they see it. Then you see the chopper come your way...do they see you?

Then the floodlight comes down on your position!!! THEY SEE YOU!!! Wow. So glad they were found but still hoping for the other one to be found alive as well.
 
RIP Roger Stone, and you are a hero of Texas sized proportions. I hope the young men he saved will cherish and relish every moment he afforded them. I assume they will. I am glad they are safe.

Sad news but not as bad as it could have been. Respects to all families, esp. the Stone family.
