Yes, I believe this man should get the death penalty if he is guilty of all crimes he is accused of committing.
The Link

Go ahead. Flame away.

Nope, sorry. That would mean he has access to our services at no cost. He'll get 3 squares a day, live in a federal or state funded house, clothing, and a resting place.

This is clear evidence that Barry should put some alligators in his F-ing moat.

Well this is capital stupidity and uncaring, but it isn't capital murder. If he's found guilty, he should get the max penalty allowed under Texas law, which will be something short of death. Repeat offenders can be charged with murder, though not the kind that can carry a death penalty. John Patrick Barton, perhaps the most notorious drunk driver in my memory got two life sentences in Denton County. He was a repeat offender, required after jail time to operate a car only with a device that required him to breathe into it to start. But he got into a car without the device, after his wife begged him not to drive, and was going about 134 mph when he killed a couple of people. The Link Barton could be eligible for parole in about 30 years, which is too soon to suit me.

Crockett, you're probably right but it seems ridiculous to give this douche bag the same US rights as citizens when he has already proven he has no respect for our laws. Instead of the court system and tax payer money, we should put him in "police custody" for a few nights in an undisclosed location. Never hear from him again.

WBAP in FW reported this morning that the last 6 HPD officers that were killed on duty were killed by people in this country illegally. I'm sure glad we are taking care of the immigration problem.

He's just a poor immigrant who came to this country seeking the American Dream; to earn an honest buck from the sweat of his brow, in order to feed his family. He got a little drunk and a little high and then he got in his car and accidentally killed an Americano, it happens. Isn't Houston an "unofficial" sanctuary city(The Link)? They should let him go.

give him a maximum sentence then, and send the bill for all of the current illegal immigrants being housed in the US for major violations back to Mexico. Since they'll surely not pay us back for housing their lousy citizens, maybe we could just take a few billion from their oil reserves to make up the difference?

Yes, I'd be fine with the US paying for the prison bill for Americans convicted and serving for criminal and violent offenses.

Or, maybe we could turn enforce the state of Oklahoma's reason for being-to house derelicts and convicts (like they do now) like Australia was for the UK.

We have illegals here who refuse to obey laws, and a POTUS who refuses to uphold the laws of the constitution with regard to this issue, and several others. Why is he not being impeached?

The quote from the attorney at the bottom of the article says that "these few idiots ruin it for most illegal immigrants. The majority are good law abiding people." Except for the fact that THEY BROKE THE LAW IN GETTING HERE AND STAYING HERE!

now that is funny....

it's difficult to defend anything that Mr. Rodriquez is accused of, but I would not be in favor of the death penalty, if he was found guilty.

Sooo, it seems some of you are anxious to say this criminal typifies the illegal aliens in this country. Is that correct?

Let's see hands.

Roma:

I am not saying this typifies most illegal aliens in this country. I will say that illegal/criminal activity (separate and apart from being in this country illegally) is rampant in the aliens who are deported several times but illegally make their way back into our country.

I think the consensus view is simply that this tragic death could have and should have been avoided. The guy was deported TWICE then during his third run of breaking our federal immigration laws, kills an officer of the law. This is pretty heartbreaking.

I know that depending on what statistics you look at and depending on the state, particularly the border states, between 15-25% of the inmates are illegal aliens. so, it isnt just 1 random guy breaking the law and killing cops. I do not know the overall numbers but at least 6 Houston police officers have been killed by illegal immigrants. I personally knew a couple that were killed by a drunk driving illegal immigrant in Houston. I personally hold the politicians accountable. They refuse to take even remedial steps to fix the problem. Then you have idiots on this board that think its perfectly fine and if you dont like it then you are a racist. it is pretty disgusting the disdain people have for simple right and wrong and our immigration laws, including members of congress that are supposed to support and defend us.

I wonder how many of you have even met an illegal alien. I mean other than the guy who mows your lawn, serves your Mexican food, and is building the house across the street.

So this guy, a very bad person and deserving of prosecution, is not really a relevant part of the immigration discussion? We agree on that?

Otherwise, this is just the politics of inflammation and defamation which I'm sure we're all above.

This is a bad man who deserves the penalty of the law. I'm not sure about the leaps to exceed the penalties laid down by law including, as someone mentioned above, police torture or just "disappearing" the guy. That seems sort of, I don't know, illegal?

I find it despicable that someone above tries to paint those illegals who are here just trying to earn a living with a brush dipped in this miscreant's paint bucket.

I don't know what the solution to the illegal immigrant/worker/alien problem is, but I don't think we reach a solution through mindless, facile vilification.

Channel 2 News in Houston was reporting on this story and they said (several times) that the guy was an "undocumented citizen."

I wanted to shoot my television.
