Yellow jacket stings

Hogs Smell Good

25+ Posts
One got me on the back while I was working in my backyard this morning. I can't reach it, and my wife's not here, but do they leave stingers?

No stingers. Mix up some water with meat tenderizer or baking soda. Their sting is high concentrate protein which gets broken down by meat tenderizer or baking soda.

Many thanks. It's been a while since I've been stung, and I've forgotten the punch that these little sumbitches can pack.

I'm already plotting revenge, though.

I stirred up some yellow-jackets this morning too. Was uncoiling a hose hanging on the wall of the house and didn't see the nest. They started flying and I started running. Much amusement for the folks at the garage sale next door.

A couple of years ago, I had a period where I was getting stung by one every time I mowed the lawn. A real pain the in ***. One day, I go to mow the same area and something tells me to pull back a little. Shortly thereafter thousands of them start coming out of the ground. It was actually pretty cool to watch once I got in the house. We had them removed the next day.

While clearing brush many moons ago, I had one fly out of the brush, fly right up my nose, and commence to stingin' the crap out of me.

After punching myself in the nose several times, to no avail, I finally blocked the other nostril and then blew him out onto the ground. I made sure to step on him to kill him dead, dead, dead.

I used the baking soda poultice technique, but I still looked like Tip O'Neill for the rest of the day.

I can only think of one other orifice that would be worse. Unlike stripping a live wire with your teeth, that would be more like peeing on an electric fence.

Wasps are beneficial. Try not to kill them if you can avoid it.

Yellow Jackets eat tent caterpillars. break open the web and watch the wasps fly in to get the caterpillars.

Mud Daubers eat spiders.
