I hate the Yankees, but this article made me choke up...

SI Cover Story

I got to go there once. June 12, 2003, to see the 'Stros lose to the Yanks 6-5. The day before, the 'Stros threw a six-pitcher no-hitter. The day after, Roger Clemens won his 300th game.

This is a great article, its hard not to get choked up on it. Its a real shame that they are tearing down such a huge part of America. I was really surprised to find out that they were not going to make it a national landmark, because it deserves to be one.

I thought I heard that they were going to tear down most of it, but leave the field and some of the grandstands intact.

Andy Petite gets the final win at Yankee Stadium.

More importantly, Brandon Fahey got in the game for the O's tonight. He'll talk about this one for the rest of his life.

Thanks for posting the link, that was an outstanding article. I too hate the Yankees but have a deep respect for their history, particularly from the 1920's through the 1960's.

I'm with the group that thinks this stadium should be preserved as a National Landmark. I regret not having been able to attend a game there.

Great article. My wife is a big Yankee fan, has been since a little girl. It's a real shame to tear down a real historical landmark and just move next door. Great game. Fahey will always remember that game.
