WV game

I had the same question about Imani, following the stats, and wondered if we might see her in the second half. But looks like she's out for the game. Close 3 pt contest right now, sure hope we pull this one out at home, Let's go Horns!

Great win for the team! In particular with Imani out, love that we played tough down the stretch and pulled this one out. Also gotta love the + 19 rb advantage, not sure I would have expected that with Imani not playing. A lot of that is due to Nneka, great game for her with 16 pts and 21 rebounds!

And that's our 3rd win vs. a ranked opponent this season

. Way to go, Horns!

Nneka won this game. She was a monster on the boards. Anyone know why Imani wasn't playing? What a fun game to watch.
And for the first time all year the crowd actually made a difference! Nice game Horns.

In my face indeed. Happy to have it that way. Great win that could have been bad considering 20 turnovers. Thank god for out rebounding WV by 20. Loved Nneka and Nekia today. Hook 'em.

Was on the road and just watched the replay on LHN. Yes, you gotta love the energy and power of Jones -- and you know what you're going to get game-in, game-out from Enemkpali.

And as a college instructor, totally support -- if McGhee-Stafford violated some rule -- Aston's decision NOT to play her. Discipline and standards on the court and classroom trump any one player -- and sends a message on who's in control. Still bothered by the inability to score down the stretch and the turnovers. Luckily WVA wasn't able to score either.

also, seattle, you seem to take any criticism of aston way too personally. are you karen aston undercover?

aston deserves a bit of criticism, her team deserves some criticism, and i'm sure that karen would say that she and her team deserve the criticism. ii'm sure many players on the team would agree that they deserve some criticism.

let people have their views without attacking them. that's what "social" media is about. being social without being offensive.

Just curious. Can you actually point to something in particular about Aston that gives you such joy? I mean I'm not a fan but I can at least acknowledge she seems to be recruiting fantastically. I met her today and she also seems to be very nice. The players seem to be happy. You just seem to like her because she's not paid as much as Gail. At least some of the other Aston fans on this site can give credible examples of why they like her. I ask only because I have never actually read anything from you that suggests you even know much about the game. And what hidden agenda is there in wanting the best coach money can buy? I was glad to see Texas raising the profile of women in athletics by offering top dollar. We took great pride in advancing that movement for years.

Coach A brings excitement and intensity, and she just lights up when she talks about X's and O's. She's worked her way up the right way and is rewarded by being our Coach for The University of Texas. Having Texas ties is a major plus and knows how to recruit Texas. Coach Conradt speaks highly of KA as an assistant too. And she is a professional, who doesn't give BS excuses like throwing her players under a bus.

Wasn't it great to see her SMILE and high-5 her players on the victory over Oklahoma?

The bottom line is I like KA for her potential, and always root for the underdog who is hungry to do great things.

What a great win by the team. Grateful that we know how to play defense, and that seems to be the one thing with this team that never waivers....as for some of the comments by Seattle.......yes she does throw the team under the bus occasionally (see TCU post game comments) however that's not uncommon for a coach to do. Also, while I love her passion and excitement displayed in some of the wins v OU and WVU, that's partly because she's never experienced that before. It's like that age old expression "act like you've been there before" and she really hasn't been successful at a high level before, so it would be hard for her to know how to act. But none the less I was proud to see the team get the W and as she gets the blame and criticism for the losses, I will give her the same praise in victory. Great game

Statesman reports Aston says benching Imani was a "coaches' decision." Noticed during "The Eyes" she stood by herself until a trainer came and stood by her. They need to get this figured out. This team can't afford to have one of their most talented players riding the bench. Hopefully this is a one-game benching.

Well let me enlighten you a bit on what's on the other side of those rose colored glasses. Compared to elite teams, we are anemic on offense. There is more standing around on the court than at a high school game. Motion offense is a foreign concept. Half-time adjustments are not anticipated and our only response is a rotating substitution that resembles a taste testing at Baskin Robbins. We score 20 points less on the road. Our predictability leads to turnover stats that are off the chart. Not sure what's going on with Imani but last year's player exodus scares the crap out of me. Our wins have been so exciting because they've been unexpected and our losses have been painful because they seemed inevitable. The bright spots only seem bright compared to the dark spots from last year. Her Monday night show is so repetitive you almost wonder if we're watching highlights from a new game. We're about to go in the road for the next two games so you better buckle up. This board is only going to get more emotional. Here's hoping you get to post "in your face" for one if not both.

Did I say we''re perfect? Nope. Texas has not even one championship to show for! You make it sound like gloom and doom, lest me remind you Rome wasn't built overnight. If you find Coach A that boring and repetitive on Monday night's you'd saved yourself from a jolt of negativity if you'd stop listening

By the way where is the "unbelievable fan" who claimed to stick around after leaving Texas? Her one token appearance at the Drum last season with FREE tickets provided is a bit if a joke don't you think?

Your fascination with free tickets for former coaches is pretty funny. She still has a home just outside of Austin and I would imagine her absence from games is more about family than anything else. She remains a highly respected coach by her peers (above your pay grade). Your assessment of the a Sparks situation is so far off the mark, it's laughable. But she's gone so why do you remain so fascinated? Turning away from a team is more your style. I tune in hoping to find a bright spot. How about you? Maybe if to tuned in you could actually break down a game beyond saying something as inept as "she gets excited about the X's and the O's."

I would imagine she'll win just enough to keep her job which is what I thought you couldn't stand about the former.

My apology to the board for going there again.

Coach A is here for the long haul whether you like it or not.
yippee.gif

respected? yeah for what she did at Duke only and not Texas.

the entire Sparks staff got canned so who's desperate in finding a major opening this coming Spring?

And your dig above my pay grade speaks nothing more of desperation.

it is you and your kind that continually make references to goestenkors whether implied or not. I suppose if I had that mediocrity of a job that I wouldn't want my presence obvious, even if I said I'd be an "unbelievable fan".

Just going to emphasize the point again:Smart adults can defend their position without attacking others personally.

And for the record, I've been a supporter of the program since I was a member of women's basketball band and was there to see the group win the national championship as a member of said group. ... so that's where i was.

I'm really tired that all posts on this board have become arguments between "Aston is great" with no ability to see how the team needs to grown vs. "Aston is terrible" with no ability to see how the team is growing. Do you all know that the players read this board? Do you know that future prospects read this board? Act like grown ups (if you are) and just talk about your position instead of trying to convince everyone you are right and no one else is.

It's a free fan forum. People are supposed to say dumb ****. If you want to read something a little more intelligent, try TMZ. Or maybe Funny or Die.

I would have said pot to kettle but that will work too. Watch a repeat of the game. 3 pt game at the 2:07 mark. Watch our offense. We got damn lucky and thank god for Nneka. You cannot play like that and ever expect to beat a UConn, Stanford, Notre Dame...

I've been going to the games 30+ years. I was there when we won the big prize. My sister competed against Clarissa in high school. But I am not sure what the point of all this is? It is, however, good to see interest of all kinds on this board. I'm sure I am as annoying this season as Seattle was three ago. It's all good.
