House Speaker Nancy Pelosi Blocks President Trump Entry into Capitol Building – Confirms State of Union Speech Cancellation…

"It looks like Speaker of The House Nancy Pelosi has no intention of allowing the House chamber to be used for a State of the Union address.

Speaker Pelosi has informed the House Sergeant at Arms that no executive branch official will be permitted entry into the Capitol building.

Earlier Fox News reported Pelosi cancelled a walkthrough last week, and a second request for reconsideration from the White House is expected to meet the same fate. The House Speaker controls who is, and who is not, permitted entry to the House floor. Until Speaker Pelosi calls for a vote to support a joint session of congress, the President cannot enter the chamber."

Is this a good move by Nan?

She has NOT yet blocked the second request for a walk through but she has said she wants it postponed or sent in by writing.
Trump don't need no stinkin' invitation
from our Constitution
SECTION 3

He shall from time to time give to the Congress Information on the State of the Union, and recommend to their Consideration such Measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient; he may, on extraordinary Occasions, convene both Houses, or either of them, and in Case of Disagreement between them, with Respect to the Time of Adjournment, he may adjourn them to such Time as he shall think proper; he shall receive Ambassadors and other public Ministers; he shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed, and shall Commission all the Officers of the United States.

It does not have to be in the House Chamber. IIRC It is held there due to size of House Chamber
but since most Dems won't be there the Senate could work.

It will be interesting to see if she allows people from the WH to do the walk through.
If she blocks them and does not allow the State of the Union address to be held in the House chamber the irony will be rich.
Nancy blocking others entry.

I am thinking other Dems will help her see this would be a loser for her and Dem.

She has sand up her vag because Trump didn't let her go on a taxpayer funded vacation.

"Taxpayer funded vacation"...to Afghanistan. We should all be so luck to fly in a military transport to beautiful Afghanistan. Think she asked for the upgrade package? Does that come with a jump seat in the front rather than the middle of the plane?

a military transport to beautiful Afghanistan.

Do you really think the "military transport" she would get would be a C17 and web seating???

Try a C-32 ... aka B-757 ... and yeah, it's posh. POTUS took it to McAllen last week.

Shoot, she may have even been after a C-25 (747) for all the people she proposed to haul.

I've not looked in a while ... but the Constitution doesn't specify WHERE the SOTU must be given ... and given the Constitution directs it, without a Constitutional Amendment, Pelosi isn't authorized to cancel the SOTU. Perhaps this year, it'll be from the Oval with a Tweet invite to tune-in???

This stuff is just juvenile. Barring Pelosi from the military flight was idiotic and petty. Hell, I'm allowed to get on a military fight. Barring Trump from the House chamber is just as petty.

I understand why she would do it. So long as Trump is quiet, she controls the narrative. However, he can easily counter that effort by giving the address somewhere where. Cocaine Mitch could let him do it in the Senate. If that's a problem, he could rent out a place or do it from the White House.

She just doesn't want to have to sit behind Trump while he gives the SOTU address and pretend to clap.

I'll never forget her sitting behind Obama and jumping up and clapping so hard it looked like her boney hands would break every time BO made a point.

At some point, Trump should make an attempt to look Presidential. Go to the Senate and give a speech that drives home the point that he is willing to compromise while the Dems are refusing to negotiate. That's his best bet.

I think some of the more moderate Dems are starting to lose their patience with Pelosi and the extreme left wing of the party. This is a golden opportunity for Dems to get concessions from Trump on priorities they care about. They are letting their hatred of Trump drive their decisions - not a smart move politically.

The problem is that the far Left will launch a primary bid against anyone who votes to make a deal with Trump on the wall. I do agree that Trump should give the address.

Trump just now sent a letter to Pelosi accepting her invitation to speak in the House Chamber to deliver SOU on Jan 29.
Not sure if Pelosi sent a new letter inviting Trump OR if Trump is referring to the original invite. Pelosi did send letter telling Trump he should delay to SOU or submit a written speech after she sent the original invitation.
If Pelosi sent a new invitation that will come out
If Trump is referring to the original invite then it will be interesting to see what Nan does now.

Here is the letter.

That's a smart political move. Force Pelosi to outright block you from giving the SOTU at the House. Right now she can argue that she only raised security concerns. He wins either way. Either he gets Nancy to back down or he gets to point out that the Dems are so irrational they will not allow the POTUS into the House to give the SOTU.

Seeing the federal work force is more Democrat than Republican, they have to be putting pressure to start negotiation. At least trying. I personally would love to shut many of those parts of the government down permanently. This has to be worse for big government types.

Good point. The centrist Dems know that their reelection(s) depend on attracting Independents (and perhaps some GOP voters) - moving far left would cost them centrist votes. And the Dem leadership seems to assume that everyone with the label "Democrat" in Congress will follow the rest of the left-wingers - a good move for GOP candidates who can be a bit more centrist and attract those Independents in upcoming elections.

Pelosi just told Trump it ain't going to happen in the House Chamber

more  and may be now wine.
Good. Makes her look much more petty than Trump appeared for cancelling her military charter. Didn't look petty to me, btw, just spewing the MSM narrative there.

The US Space Forcefield Barrier proposal is getting some attention. It applies LIDAR mapping tools connecting sensors to border agents for a secure America of tomorrow today.

But Mexico is paying for it.
