Devin Duvernay ..... Sachse (Sachse, TX)
:hookem::hookem::hookem::hookem:-horn ..... WR ..... 5-11/195 ..... Bailor TEXAS

Noted for his YAC, this stylish blazer has posted a 4.32/40, a 4.24/shuttle, and a 10.27/100m.

Per Scout:
Duvernay is a wide receiver who is a valuable weapon in any offense. He plays mostly out of the slot and has the ability to take the underneath pass and turn it in to a big gain in a flash. He has the moves and the athleticism to make defenders miss, but the most special quality about his game is his burst and top-end speed. In the pads he is one of the fastest guys in the country. Additionally, he can make plays vertically down the field.

Per 247Sports:
Turn on Devin Duvernay's high school film and you'll see a lot of screens thrown to him and that's a pretty good gameplan. As a speedster with documented 10.2 speed in the 100, why not get the ball in his hands with as little risk as possible and let him out-run defenses? That's where he shines."

Per OB:
"I’m pretty hot on [Texas]. I like Coach Norvell, Charlie Strong. I feel like they have a great plan, are doing great things over there and have a bright future ahead of them.”

He kills opponents on those screens. He has the size, quick moves, great vision to find the holes about to open, and that stride is very impressive! We need this guy!

Rumor has it that Devin has already tried to commit to UT. The problem is that he wants Texas to also take his 3-star WR twin brother, Donovan. He was (supposedly) told to hold off until he can commit solo. With the Horns having to take a smaller class next year, as well as having 3 top receivers already commited, this is probably a good move for now.

Once again, this is only a rumor.

“I know my brother committed today, but I’m planning to make my decision in October. I planned on playing with him, but we’ll see how it all plays out. I just want to feel comfortable and feel like it’s the right place.”

“I’m not exactly interested in Texas anymore. They’re not recruiting me anymore. I haven’t talked to them. I guess they backed off. I’m not really sure what’s going on, so yeah.”

Okay, heez now a 'Horn. Here's how....

Per 247:

National Signing Day for the 2016 class is more than four months in the past, but that didn’t stop Texas from making a big addition to its haul in June.

Four-star Sachse wide receiver Devin Duvernay committed to Longhorns on Wednesday instead of attending Baylor, where he committed to sign during the recruiting cycle, according to ESPN's Gerry Hamilton. Duvernay will enroll at Texas' for the school's second summer session, per Hamilton.

A 5-foot-11, 195-pound speedster, Duvernay is Texas’ fourth wide receiver signee in the 2016 class joining Collin Johnson, Reggie Hemphill-Mapps and Davion Curtis. Duvernay visited Texas and TCU while pondering his decision.

Duvernay initially signed with Baylor, but he asked out of his National Letter of Intent following the sexual assault scandal that rocked the school. Many Bears asked out of their LOIs in the same timeframe, but they are not allowed to visit or contact other schools until their appeals to be released from their LOIs are ruled on by the NCAA. However, an error committed by Baylor in filing Duvernay’s LOI – it was never submitted to the NCAA – allowed the wide out to sign anywhere.

Rated as the No. 4 overall wide receiver and the No. 36 player nationally in the 2016 class per the 247Sports Composite, Duvernay can be an immediate-impact player for Texas. Duvernay will line up in the slot, providing Sterlin Gilbert’s new offensive system a burner at the position.

Duvernay’s twin brother, Donovan, also signed with Baylor. However, he has not yet been released from his letter of intent. It is expected Donovan will join Devin at Texas if/when the release is granted.

Well I have to say this is a very nice bonus. Hopefully more to come....
Like I said earlier, we wouldn't have spaces if it weren't for the DNQ's from last year. Where is that guy who kept harping on that before 2016 NSD?

It always seems to work out I guess; it's always a disappointment to lose someone because of the hype generated when they sign. Then you have that let-down but luckily coaches in general are used to that sort of thing and just keep working. They most likely have an idea of "at risk" signees due to grades/scores so when it happens it's not the big surprise like it is for us "bystanders."
