Except for my time in the Air Force, I have been fortunate to live in Texas. I have never seen a tornado but I did hear one at night going down five-mile creek behind our house around 1970. Yes, it did sound like a freight train. Tore up the creek bed, trees, etc. City of Dallas came to “improve” the area. Destroyed the little waterfall to install a new pipeline. Crawdads gone, perch gone, water moccasins, still there. Of course. That is an amazing picture though.

For the most part I’ve lived in Texas my entire life. And the only times I’ve been near a tornado were Houghton Lake, MI in 1962 and Ely, MN ~2000.
Hopefully my luck holds out.
