I know that everybody is focused on the Junior Days upcoming, but I've just finished watching the video clips of the recently signed class.

Just a thought or two:

1) Tevin Jackson will be the best linebacker of the three. I'm not sure why he isn't considered 5*, but when he is playing on Sundays people will wonder why he wasn't. Awesome frieking physical skills. No better athlete at any position in the country IMO.

2) Chris Jones is electric. No one knows who has the tools upstairs to bring about success at a place like Texas, but I think he is going to be great.

3) Under rated DT class on a national level. I think we are as good as UF and maybe better.

4) This class is better than advertised. The only guy I'm worried about is D. Cobbs. I know his ranking is high, but he won't beat out Shead at RB and I'm not sure he's fast enough to be great on d.

Man is this an impressive group of guys. If they aren't the top group in the country, and I think their performance ultimately willl dictate that they are, I'm way missing it. Not somewhat, but WAY off.

I agree thais is the best class Mack has ever signed. Can't factor in Vince in a way that I like but overall it is the best. If Fl and USCs classes are equal or better, then may may be a big gap between us 3 and the rest of Div1 for a few yrs. To me Cobbs, Harris, McCoy and Daniels look to have the hardest time getting playing time. But each of those have a big upside if they hang in there...
 
I know this much, Tevin Jackson was all over the field making plays in the US Army AA game. He looked like a big time stud to me.

I have know idea if Cobb or Shead will be a better fit at RB for whatever style offense we run in the future, but the only reason Cobb won't see PT will be because we are ridiculously deep.

But yeah, this class is sick!
 
I think everybody is looking WAY to much into Cobbs 40 time. Go take a look at last years combine and see some of the times that were recorded. Theres never gonna be a point in Cobbs career where hes running 40 yards in a straight line with nobody in front of him giving him some type of bump and run coverage or something. The dude is a monster in the open field. Im not saying he will ever play or if the light will ever come on for him (theres no way of knowing that, see phillip payne and Myron Hardy), but don't look into that 40 time. I remember coming out of high school, Desean Jacksons 40 time was a 4.45, and by all accounts he is the fastest football player that i've ever seen (including chris johnson). Maybe i was too young to really see most of Deion Sanders in his prime, but the game is faster now and the way Jackson just blows by people with virtual ease im gonna stand by my statement. Everything changes when your between the white lines with people guarding you, pads on...etc.
 
This class is going to be fun to watch. If they bust ***, which I expect they will under current coaching, they could achieve greatness.
