Wow, did aggy ... in their

Yeah. I saw that as well. I'm almost glad we won in the fashion that we did. TexAgs has been high entertainment for the past week. One guy in particular (the one who does their game threads) cannot let it go. He keeps insisting they swept us last weekend, that the Sooners won the conference, that the Aggies were a win away from winning the conference (depsite the fact that they're now only 1 game above .500). Ridiculous, but funny watching them squirm over this.

Aggy last week kept repeating the phrase "I've seen them win, I've seen them lose, but I've never seen them quit."

Revised: I've never seen them win, I've seen them lose, and now I've seen them quit.

What's most amusing about aggy's antics is only one of the three contested calls was a genuine blunder, and it ultimately had no impact on the game other than shaving a run from aggy's 3-0 win last Saturday. The runner at third was easily safe and Yeast absolutely deserves criticism for getting the call wrong. If he makes the correct call, aggy wins, 4-0. That's it.

Conversely, the other two calls were debatable. I happen to think aggy was safe in the play at the plate in Friday's opener. Had Yeast agreed, however, it still wouldn't have guaranteed an aggy victory.

The call in the first inning of Sunday's rubber match was also open to interpretation. To me, it looked like Yeast made the right call. After all, even the aggy first baseman didn't believe he touched the bag. Why else was he hopping his foot all around it? aggy could've escaped the inning without yielding a single run had their third baseman made a good throw on the very next at bat. But I suppose that and aggy's other miscues in that inning were somehow Yeast's fault.

Bottom line: aggy deserves to be where it is.

The funniest thing about aggy is that they honestly believe that hosting a super or a regional should be based solely on attendance. Forget the winning record and conference wins.

And what I continue to find even more amusing, year in and year out, is how the aggy faithful continue to believe their baseball team belongs in Omaha. "Oh remember the 89 team? Oh how great the 89 team was..." WAKE UP AGGY!!!! The 89 team didn't even make it to Omaha.

It's funny because I saw threads about those exact things on TexAgs. One was about how OU should not get selected to host over A&M because OU cannot draw the crowd that A&M can and their field isn't as nice. Seriously. Forget that OU just kicked the **** out of Aggy. Their field isn't as nice, so A&M should get to host. It's no wonder they are so freaking clueless about how the committee makes its decisions regarding regional hosts and national seeds. They have very little experience in that area.

One guy was also whining about how their baseball program has never been successful, and how they had all gotten satisfied with just making super regionals. Then some douchebag responds with this crap about the 1989 team. Yeah. Not only did that team not get to Omaha, but it was TWENTY FREAKING YEARS AGO. Many of the players on their current roster were not even alive back then. It's truly sad that all they can come up with to justify the "success" of their program is that they had a good team 2 decades ago.

I really think those threads are being started by trolls. It's just a little too convenient that after a week of bitching, there are suddenly "Aggies" coming out of the woodwork to point out how childish they sound for continuing to complain about this crap.

But it is somewhat refreshing that there are one or two "real" A&M fans chiming in and finally admitting that Yeast did not steal that series from them and that if they had played better in key moments, they wouldn't have to complain about officiating.

Those umpires must really have it in for aggy, hosing them out of games two weeks in a row, or is the excuse their fragile mental make-up was so scarred by being cheated out of their rightful wins last weekend that they couldn't perform against OU? I get their excuses mixed up, not having a super computer to keep track of them all.

Yep, I was listening to Gus on a car radio on top of a hill in Dallas where I could just barely hear him on KLBJ.

"Where are the aggies now"

I moved back to Austin in large part because of that season.

yes, the Ags have one serious moral victory on their hands. that '89 team is the best team to never make it to Omaha.

I'm sure they have a 20 year reunion scheduled for the weekend they are hosting their regional.
