Would this team be better under Beard vs. Terry

I'm not trying to beat a dead horse, but I don't understand the intricates of basketball.

For those in the know, would Texas have a better record under Beard? If so, why; if not why?

I want to have a deeper understanding of the game and game management. All opinions are welcome.

I know there is a similar topic on this thread, but I am looking for the "nuts and bolts" analysis.

This does feel like a dead horse since we have the "Beard vs Terry Comparisons" thread, but here we go. Maybe? The losses since Beard departed are:

• KSU
• ISU
• TENN
• KU

That's four (current) AP top 12 losses plus UT itself is #5. That's really good! Since Beard lost to Illinois, how can anyone say he would have definitely beat any of those four? Heck, maybe Beard losses to KSU twice thus far?

All I was looking for was a deeper understanding of the game and the team. Nothing more. I don't know if the team would be better under Beard than Terry and I don't know if anyone, one way or the other, can say that with certainty.

Until recently, I never followed basketball and was just asking for some insight.

Under Terry we are 3-4 against ranked opponents and we look completely unprepared to start every single game having to get organized as the game goes on. Would we look better or have better results under Beard? I have no idea.

I would feel much better about Terry if we could ever start a game with a good plan but in the end they are beating the teams they should ugly or not.

Just some observations from the games that I have watched, and I haven't been able to see the last four so just going on the descriptions of how those games played out. I don't think we fell behind in any games like with Beard like we have with Terry. That indicates that Beard is better at preparing an initial game plan than Terry or that the team executed it better with Beard on the sideline. Terry has appeared to make good in game adjustments and/or get the team to execute better as the game goes on. Terry would have had this input as an assistant with Beard as the head coach so I believe the sum of the two would have made the overall performance of the team better. This may or may not translate into a better record as there are way to many variables which factor into each game. My opinion is that the team defense was better with Beard as the head coach. Earlier in the season the team drew a lot of charging fouls. I don't think they are drawing near as many or charging fouls since his departure and have been allowing more easy buckets especially early in the game. This indicates to me that Beard was better at getting the defensive execution necessary for an undersized team. Again, my conclusion is that the team would be better with Beard as head coach and Terry as his top assistant playing to the strengths of each coach.

Well, Beard's record includes taking a team to the final four and elite eight. That says something.
