Worst Movie with Most Awarded cast

So I was watching Outbreak the other night and thought to myself, "You know, for all the talent in this movie, it really is terrible."

6 Oscars between Cuba Gooding, Kevin Spacey, Morgan Freeman, and Dustin Hoffmann. Not to mention the cast also included Donald Sutherland and Rene Russo.

How can you screw that up?

It does make me wonder, what are the other movies with all star casts that were absolute busts.

There are movies with people who became all-star casts and then there are movies that were made with people who were already all-stars. E.G., Mars Attacks (just one I could think of, don't crucify me please). I assume you are talking about movies that enlisted the aid of proven stars and not the ones that went on to become famous.

I've always wondered what happened to Cuba Gooding Jr.. From Oscar recipient to making B movies with the likes of Dolph Lundgren?

Lions for Lambs had Meryl Streep, Robert Redford, Tom Cruise, Michael Peña and Peter Berg yet was an embarrassingly boring piece of didactic propaganda.

Well, not the most awarded cast, but "Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium" had both Dustin Hoffman and Natalie Portman. Say, would you please remove those needles from the kiln so that I can thrust them into my eyes?

Ocean's 12

George Clooney - 1 oscar win, 4 oscar nominations
Julia Roberts - 1 oscar win, 2 oscar nominations
Matt Damon - 1 oscar win, 1 oscar nomination
Catherine Zeta Jones - 1 oscar win
Brad Pitt - 2 oscar nominations
Andy Garcia - 1 oscar nomination
Don Cheadle - 1 oscar nomination
Elliot Gould - 1 oscar nomination
Casey Affleck - 1 oscar nomination

not to mentioned helmed by a director who has 1 oscar win and 2 oscar nominations.

Ocean's 12..... Literally nothing happens in that movie.

When I saw the thread title, my first thought was, "Outbreak, no question".

But I also have to agree with Ocean's 12...

This probably isn't the VERY best example, but Ewan McGregor, Samuel Jackson, and Natalie Portman are all pretty talented actors, and the acting in Star Wars II was horrific. Not that they were given good material, but still.

How about the cast for Heaven's Gate?

Kris Kristofferson (Golden Globe winner; badass)
Christopher Walken (Golden Globe and Oscar winner; badass)
Jeff Bridges (Oscar winner; was f**ing Lebowski)
Mickey Rourke (Golden Globe winner)
John Hurt (Golden Globe winner; had an alien burst through his stomach)
Sam Waterson (some decent films; his TE Ameritrade commercials are awesome)
Willem Dafoe (Oscar nominee; his role didn't make the final cut)

And directed by Michael Cimino, who gave us The Deer Hunter.

What a giant turd that turned out to be.

Heaven's Gate was a pretty good western; it was an hour too long and got a horrific press and so nobody went to see it and it wrecked United Artists because of cost overruns.

But people who watch it without the background info tend to like it ok or, in the case of the europeans, think it is very good.

Worst picture with good talent ever: Cleopatra, and it is not even close. Stupid story, idiotic performance by Taylor and the waste of Burton was criminal.

I was watching Dick Tracy the other day. It was pretty bad:

Warren Beatty 1 Oscar (directing)
Al Pacino 1 Oscar (Nominated for this role!)
Dustin Hoffman 2 Oscars
Kathy Bates 1 Oscar
James Caan
Madonna

hell i liked outbreak... but i would probably put myself in the category of, guy who likes awesomely bad movies.

2feathers: there was a fine book written about the making of that film called Final Cut. It was written by one of the production management at UA and he describes in some detail how they lost control of Cimino and the budget and why.

A few years ago I was in an LA bookstore that just sells books on the industry and he opined it was the best insider book ever written and that everybody in the film business shared his opinion. Would not know myself but it was a good read.

Another to consider:

The Peacemaker

George Clooney
Nicole Kidman
Armin Mueller-Stahl(Shine, Avalon)
Marcel Iures(Layer Cake)

and we walked out on this movie.
