Holy schnikes. Seriously, folks, this is some serious working out. Forget regular cardio. Working out with kettlebells will have your heartrate skyrocketing in no time.

Give them a shot.

Always wanted to but neither my Gold's or 24 hour has them.

Yeah I bought the 35 lb. kettlebell at Academy for $75. But this thing is solid and will last forever. And trust me, the 35 lbs. sounds like it's light....it's anything but when working out.

It came with a DVD that demonstrates the basic movements. I've found various workouts I want to try, but I'm just learning the basics right now.

From what I've read, this thing will shed fat like no other and will greatly increase your strength.

Highly recommended. You can do it all in your living room without having to go to a gym. I'm still going to workout with my beloved dumbbells and barbells, but I'm definitely incorporating kettlebells.

So buy these and it will take care of your anaerobic and aerobic exercise? I'm not sure I want a bulky look, kind of prefer a lean muscular look. What would these do or does that depend on your genetics?

I constantly hear about how great kettlebells are - I may have to try them out sometime. My gym also doesn't have them.

A guy I know works out with these. He says it is the only weight training he does... and this guy is insanely ripped. I suppose they must be effective.

Hell yeah it does. My heartrate was racing and my lungs were burning from my workout. It's such a good workout because it involves pretty much every muscle group.

I'm still practicing the basic moves on the DVD. Trust me, do a few circuits with them about 10 reps each movement and you will be huffing and puffing.

Once I feel confident in those basic ones I'm going to start more challenging programs.

great, you guys talk up the perfect push up so i go get that. now i've gotta go get freaking kettlebells?
sheesh.

What's a good weight to start at? I'm just getting back into shape, and while I've got decent strength, I'm still curling reps of 15-20 pounds, e.g. Weak, I know.

Sounds like something cool to try and I love efficient workouts.

The highest weight they have at Academy is 35 lbs. I'm no expert, and of course I have no idea what your level of fitness is, but I would still suggest starting with the 35. That's usually the basic starting level, from what I've read.

Great thread. I had never heard of these until I read this, but it sounded interesting so I went and bought a 35# bell for $40 and I got a DVD for $13.

Two days ago I did my first workout - nothing hard core, just some of the basic moves (mostly the swing). I was sore yesterday (legs mostly) and very SORE today. Haha. Time will tell if it has staying power, but I like it so far. I'm a little worried about over stressing my knees and I'm also worried about dropping the weight and destroying my floor.
