Working for Dell

I have an "Offer Session" in the morning at Dell and a scheduled start day in 2 weeks. What's it like working for them? Has anyone been to one of these offer sessions before? I will be in small/med business sales. Any information will be appreciated.

To me, I think it's like what you would expect when you work in a fortune 500 company. Network and we're numbers driven.

Are you going to be in the que? marketing? Managing a certain account? I'm not in medium slamm business, but I do have contacts there.

If you work with English-speakers from outside the US, "queue" is a great word to know how to spell. People in other countries are often surprised that Americans seem so unfamiliar with this word.

been working at Dell since July 2001. Started on the Home Sales Queue and have held a number of different positions in Corporate Sales.

Overall, I have enjoyed my experience. I've had my ups and downs at Dell, but I think you'll find that at any company (Dell has also had its shares of ups and downs as well.) The nice thing about working for a big company is the opportunity to do what you want (lots of different positions.) As Ramathorn said, it's all about performance and networking.

Good luck with the offer session.

vacant, lol, I do know that's the spelling. I think que is a suitable substitute though. In my eyes anyway.

I got a free hot dog & Diet Dr Pepper at the Dell plant on Howard Lane yesterday evening.

Didn't see any 'que at all however...just the tube steaks & burgers at the open house.

I left Dell about 4 months ago. I was there for over 5 years. It depends on your department, but mine sucked.

Dell will hire just about anybody, then over the next 6 to 24 months, fire the bottom 90% in sales. Be at the top or they will fire you.
