Wood Big 12 pitcher of the week

I like to sit in the first few rows behind home plate at The Disch so I can watch the pitching up close but when I saw Austin pitch on TV at Nebraska from that center field camera it gave a greater appreciation of the break he gets on his slider. He really has some unique movement on the ball that I don't think I've seen since Huston, maybe ever.

Is there something different with a lefty's slider than what a right-hander throws from a physics standpoint?

PS-As I've said since Game 1, Austin Dicharry has the most movement/control on his pitches of any pitcher we have, IMO. Does anyone see him swapping places with any of our current starters?

Great observations Wishbone. Dicharry is great but seems to lose focus after 2-3 innings and his pitches are "up" or without movement. Like you, I really like him and he may start against Rice on Tuesday. He started the last Rice game and went 4 innings.

So to answer your question, IMO he needs to show more consistency to be a starter. With he and Taylor Jungmann coming in as mid-relievers we are loaded. Give a shout out to Coach Johnson for bringing these "young guns" to the 40 acres.
