Way to go Ladies! Super Job! The Aggies are not easy to beat in College Station but our Ladies got us this much needed point in the Lone Star Cup Competition. Great photo below from the UT Web site.

So it's up to Baseball and one of the golf teams in order for us to get a tie. I'm assuming Men's Tennis and Men's Track are points for us. Softball and Women's Track are points for A&M. Do either of our golf teams have a shot?

Golfweek has aggy ranked above us in both Men's & Women's golf. It's kind of a confusing poll, but stroke average seems to be a part of it. Aggy is about a half -stroke ahead of us in both. Like you said, we need to take 2/3 of M golf, W golf, & baseball, just for the TIE. Doesn't look good, but "did we quit when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?"

So all of a sudden everyone cares about this stupid 'showdown' now? Flashback to threads a year ago and everyone's making fun of aggy's attempts to 'win' it.

the more credible collegiate golf poll has our men ranked significantly higher than the ags, and our women just slightly behind. both squads are capable of winning the showdown point...imo men's and women's contests could go either way. as far as women are concerned, it may come down to whether kelly louth is in lineup. haven't seen her name in recent contests so perhaps she's injured. if she competes i think our women will take out the ags....lineup of louth, rollins, best and hines should be a good one. things change completely without louth, however....not too confident about our chances without her.

as far as showdown goes, if we take men's and women's golf, we should win it yet again. if men's tennis defeats the ags tomorrow (would be stunned if that didn't happen) we'll only be down a half-point entering golf championships.

We will lose men's track in this conference format. We will lose womens track. We will lose both men and women's golf, although men could surprise.
Losing football is likely to be the difference, although they could beat us by several points regardless.

I think we may have a chance to pull it out. If we can split in golf and our softball team can win in College Station I think it could easily come down to baseball. As it is we might be able to pull out a tie and still retain the cup even though that is a small consolation. If we don't at least win one of the golf matches though the Aggies will get it this year. Come on UT teams. Get us the win!

i don't know about anyone making fun of aggy's attempts to win the showdown....i think fun was being made of the aggies in general. what else are you going to do because they are, after all, a joke....and a bad one at that. i do recall quite a few commenting that this year, and last, would likely be the aggies best chance at taking the showdown away from the horns. they fell short last year but are in a little better shape this time around. it will be close but i predict a win for the horns if we take the two golf championships. if that doesn't happen i doubt we can pull it out.
