I checked out Napster's free 30-day offer after the SB last night and downloaded a bunch of stuff. The songs are in some protected .wma format. Anyone know how I can convert this to mp3 so I can import it to iTunes?
as far as i know, there's the rub -- i dont think you can convert protected files from WMA. Check ipodlounge.com, as i'm sure this question is very common, especially today.
I'm hoping i'm wrong b/c i want to take advantage of this too.
BTW, you can always burn the songs onto disc then upload them onto iTunes.
I tried to convert a .wma file to a .mp3 file and received an error that says the .wma file was encrypted and could not be converted. Am I missing a step?
I remember seeing a program that would run in the desktop background, and then effectively cache the sound output for any wma's played. Then you could save the output as a .wav, convert to mp3, and burn. Unfortunately you still have to run in real time to use.
