Witness some really bad USC Defense

Some are calling him the next Reggie Bush. I guess that means that against good teams with good defenses he will do pretty much jack ****. He will bounce, bounce and bounce till he gets pushed out of bounds with maybe a one or two yard gain. He will abuse lesser teams by not being able to run through tackles, receive way more hype than he deserves and sit on the bench for the biggest play in a title game.

I guess this kids parents are stoked because they get a really expensive house to stay in while he is at USC!

Reggie Bush had 82 yards rushing on 13 attempts and 95 receiving yards on 6 receptions against Texas in the championship game.

Are you saying that's not a good performance, or are you saying that Texas defense wasn't any good? Just because Lendale White had a better game doesn't mean Bush did "jack ****."

he also had a very stupid fumble. he made plays. that's what he does. we just happened to have the best players on the field that day and made more plays to win the game.

The guy he put on his *** at the 15 yard line is a red-shirt DE who did a good job by just getting over there. Nice run and slick moves, but come on now.

Nice run.
I am gonna say it now and save time.

Take away Bush's one run that accounted for the vast majority of his yards (on a broken play but still a big run) and then tell me if that is a good game. He did not fare well v. stout or good defenses. He bounced and bounced as mentioned above. Same as in the pros.

In the open field he is amazing. That field is not open much of the time. He was not the best back on his team nor the country yet won a Heisman. Fraud. He is a cheat and should not have been playing to begin with. F that guy.

12 carries for 56 yards and another 95 yards receiving? I would call 150 yards on offense against a Texas defense that dominated every other team a pretty good day.

Not sure about you, but if any of the Texas running backs produced 150 yards against any of the top defenses they played last year, especially against Alabama, OU or Nebraska, I'd call it a good day too.

That many yards for a RB is terrible. Receiving, what he is good at is not shabby at all. Bush as a RB is not super. He needs open space and does not seem to be able to create it on his own very often. He is quite aight.

Don't forget that Reggie got a good chunk of his receiving yards on the next to last play when Leinart dumped it off to him with 20+ yards of open field to play with.

So does a running back's performance only depend on the total number of yards, and not the number of attempts? I get it, Lendale White had a very good game and that took away opportunities from Bush, but it doesn't mean Bush was completely ineffective.

If a QB only had 150 passing but another 150 rushing, does that mean he had terrible numbers as a QB?

I'm not saying Bush is the greatest running back ever, but if used properly, he can be a very good running back. Just like Vince, if used properly, can be a very good quarterback.

Zete, I agree with that point exactly. But many, MANY were touting him as the greatest and as some bad *** stud which he was not. Not against good and solid defenses. In the right role and situation the guy has blazing speed. He cannot run through tackles well and seems to have the dropsies on kick returns. The guy is good but not great. Again, a whole lot of people seem to think he is some freak of nature worthy of being compared to.

Regarding RB's I am not as impressed in the pros any longer by a 1,000 yard rusher now that there are more games. I think the standard should be 1,500 or 2,000 combined with receptions included. They play 16 games and that means just less than 100 a game gets them there. THAT is an accomplishment. 1,000, not so much. I am probably alone in this but the whole 1,000 yard rusher is a carry over from an era when they played less games.

Let's see more because the games v. teams that were good provide more let downs. Take away the random big play here or broken play there he is almost pedestrian. His inability to run through the line limits him. Sure, almost any player has exceptions. Let us also not forget that Va Tech is just about always over ranked and under achieves. It's just sort of what they do.

USC did not play very many good defenses either. The Pac 10 was almost devoid of them in that spurt of time. The guy is good. The guy is not great. He is showing this in the NFL yet people tout him as something he is not. He's not a great RB, period.
