with all our people signed and three slots left

I think it is just Merrick keeping his options open. We do have a spot to give, but signing an LOI will bind him to Texas, and he is not in any such hurry. He is rich enough to go play somewhere without even a scholarship anyway, I think. He may wait till June, to see if we are picking up a Grad transfer QB. We may also put more pressure on him to join immediately by June, if nothing has worked out on the Juco or Grad transfer front, because we need 4 healthy QBs on campus, competing. We may not even want him to greyshirt, at that point. So, nothing to read into it. Just waiting for some time, as he and Texas both can.

We may also be not fully done yet, and the coaches may be working on some guys even now, like any good OL or DL that may be left on the board somewhere.

^^ Well, aggy says his dad Nick Merrick was the one paying Malik, Murray, Mack, Soso, Lodge, Boyd and Hill to consider UT. I have to trust them on that. $200K per player. The scholarship amount is chump change.

I saw them discussing the shockwaves caused by UT raising the going rate so high suddenly, that it took them a couple of days to have their bagmen come forward to match it or beat it. Must have worked on a couple of those recruits when they got Mack and Murray. So that money must have stayed with Nicke Merrick. No problem to pay for the son's classes at UT.

I am just going by what aggy said. They sounded dead serious about it, discussing how high they could go and all that. I had to trust them.

Is there anyone else who thinks that QB was a requirement to pick up this season, considering (as I posted on the other thread), that the current one is not a college level QB, the backup will be a RS freshman, and is there another QB on the roster?

All that said, and Texas doesn't even have a full committment from the one QB that signed? Anyone else have the creeps about the QB situation, if Heard does not pan out?

@Golden Steer,

What do you mean by not having a full commitment from the one they signed?

I agree the QB situation needed to be addressed and I'm not sure it really was. Kai seems to be a developmental prospect.
