I still can't believe Charlie Strong was our head coach. Those are 3 precious years of my life that I will never get back.
Great post. I try to stay positive, but those were some crazy days.I still can't believe Charlie Strong was our head coach. Those are 3 precious years of my life that I will never get back.
Fortunately, it only took 3 years. Had we beaten Kansas (KANSAS!!!!!) we may have missed on Herman, and whatever coach we picked up next would only be in year 2 of cleaning up the mess.Great post. I try to stay positive, but those were some crazy days.
Factor in so many people wanted him to succeed for various reasons.
So many excuses, press conferences, and interviews coming away thinking huh?
Blame the previous regime, say you’re getting it fixed. It buys time to move the shells around, but eventually the music stops.
I wanted him to succeed too. I doubt you will find many Texas fans who don't want the coach, any Texas coach, to succeed. At least at the beginning, everybody is behind the new guy. But it didn't take long for the poor results to alienate some, and after Kansas I doubt you could have found anybody who wanted to give him more time to bake his cake.I wanted him to succeed even as I knew it was not likely .
I thought that Texas was just too big and that he would do well at a smaller place.
Sadly that may not be true .
Uh, they just need to, uh, play better
Bwahahaha yesHere, or at USF?
Not to defend but didn’t he kick off half the team for breaking rules?
My take when he did it was that he was pulling the core values thing to distract from actual performance. How is it the prior coach had them in line winning 11 games with a Heisman candidate, then Charlie takes over and the wheels fall off.
In other words, he's just full of ****.I thought the same thing, Vol. It's looking more and more to me like Charlie wants to lower expectations by steering the program towards a never ending rebuild while using his core values as a shield.
