Wireless: trying to get a good deal: help?

family of four phones, cutting expenses, I'm very willing to go down to three cell phones. one teenager doesn't like a cell phone, imagine that!

My wife got us on with an expensive(to me) plan with AT & T a couple of years ago. right now, paying approx. $140 a month, includes unlimited texts, 700 minutes a month.

So far, T-mobile has 750 minutes a month for three phones, 75$, 80$ four phones, same texting; + taxes. guessing taxes about the same ~23$.

AT and T contract for two phones expires August 30th. T-Moblie guy says I need to call AT and T to get unlock codes. Any idea if they will give those to me, or charge?

What other companies do you guys recommend? In the Metroplex.

I'm trying to get AT and T out of my life for good. Time Warner Cable is looking pretty good on the landline side. Or Vonage.

Can't help you with much on the mobile....but I can tell you that Vonage is dirt cheap right now. It's only like $10 a month for unlimited everything.

doesn't sound like data is important to you, and my plan probably doesn't suit your needs, but this is what i got recently on sprint:

4 lines, unlimited data and text, 1600 shared minutes, free mobile to mobile and nights and weekends = $140/month

also you might want to check out virgin. they are really cheap right now.
