Wireless sucks

I can't hold a connection for over 3 hours without dropping off the network and having to go downstairs and reboot the router and my machine. 3 hours is the absolute longest it will last. It usually last about 30 minutes or so. My room is directly above the router so the distance shouldnt be that big of a deal. Its a linksy's router. The reason we got that router is because it's the only type that had the repeaters that will stretch to my brothers room. He is having the same problem. I have a network G card if that matters. Please help.

I had the same problem. I could either unplug the router or the modem and it would resume for a short while. I finally fixed the problem by having Time Warner replace the crappy Toshiba modem. The technician indicated that the cable modems fail frequently.

Dude I just had the same problem and replaced my Linksys router yesterday, not only that but it kept getting stuck even on my main machine that is connected through the CAT-5 cables. try connecting the laptop tthrough wires, update the firmware, ping the router itself, try tech support. and if all else fails ditch the worthless piace of **** Linksys brand. I bought a Netgear WGT624 v2 and even though the reviews scared the **** out me with the same problems I decided to risk it (30 day return policy of course) and have not had a single need to reset. However the laptop uses a b card, I am buying a 108 Mbps card which is what allegedly gives all of the trouble.

I dunno..I have a 802.11 g linksys router/card and never had that type of problem. Yes 2.4 GHZ phones will knock me off for a minute or so and depending on how far away from the router I am it will reconnect within minutes or a few seconds. Only thing I can say is update firmware (if not done so already) and perhaps changing the frequency.

If rebooting the router fixes the problem, it doesn't sound like a Wireless Zero problem to me. Upgrade your router's firmware, trash your Linksys card and get something better.

May be the phone or even a microwave causing interference, so I've heard. Definitely download any updates, thats what fixed my issues.

I switched the equipment to Netgear and haven't had any problems with mine, but the access point being used as a repeater is still not working for my brother. I called netgear and they are working on the problem.

I have been on RoadRunner with a Linksys 2.4 Ghz router for about 18 months and I don't think I've ever lost a connection. I seem to recall having to reboot the cable modem once.

I guess I'm just lucky.
