Do they work? I know HP used to be the brand to beat, but is there another w/ wireless that is better. Besides the wireless, what should I be looking for?
I need a new printer and wireless would be the ticket IF it works.
I picked up a wireless print server made by Netgear last year for ~$50. It hooked into my existing HP printer and made it available to every computer in my house.
I know that doesn't help you but it was a solution that made my All-in-one HP printer have a lot longer lifetime before I send it to the garbage heap.
I bought a Lexmark 6570 about a year ago. It is on WiFi so it doesn't even need to be connected to the router. It also has fax, scan and photocopy. Not bad for $150.
If you don't want to buy a new printer you can always get a router with a USB port like Apple's Airport Express for $99. You install the software on a PC or Mac, connect the printer, and voila, you're printing remotely.
i love my airport express for this reason, plus you can hook to audio out to your stereo and play your itunes that way. and you can get a small program called airfoil to play any audio source through the airport express, like a live stream of sirius satellite music.
we've got macs and pc's all printing to the networked printer no prob. and you can find one on ebay for much less than $99
the only negative is that if you have a printer/scanner you will not be able to use the scanner through the airport network.
DO NOT BUY A LEXMARK!!!!! They are the total suck of printing world! We switched from HP to lexmark at work and we cuss them things every day there is a problem and there has been from day one. And it ain't just one it's all of them, i suppose we switched because they are cheaper but the HP's never had a problem and we ran a million papers through them.
i have a brother multi function with wireless and it kicks all kinds of ***. got it at office depot, and they pricematched the price i found on amazon, which was about $100 less. i think total it ended up being around $250 or so.
