Wireless Internet Problem

My wireless isnt working on a desktop Dell. The bottom right shows a good signal and connection but IE cant find any pages. I have cleared all the Temp folders and cookies and what not. I have cleared the IP address and renewed it in Command prompt and have pinged a website with good results.

If i plug into a land connection the internet works. Its only on the wireless. i looked at the Host file under the windows/system32 folder and it only shows 127.0.0.1 Localhost. No pound sign before it.

Any ideas what to do?

I'm sure that someone on here has a great answer, but whenever mine gets out of whack I give Linksys a call and they help me out everytime any time of day.

Is the land connection enabled?
If so, disable it so that you are connecting w/ only the wireless.

Reboot your AP / router/ whatever.

Lan connection is disabled. only the wireless is enabled. I even turned the firewall off to try that. The wireless hub is working. Its only this computer that doesnt. I have tried different wireless connections and they all show connected with good signals. Im able to ping out to different web sites through the command prompt screen and im getting a good response. I have all the IP addresses and gateway numbers showing and i can ping the gateway and get a response.
It seems for all practical purposes that the wireless card is working properly and like i said i can hook up the LAN line and the internet works. Its like IE doesnt recognise the wireless card or something.

I might try calling Linsys. Im just trying to mess with it on my own first.

On the back of the router is a reset button. Unplug the router for 10 seconds, let it boot up and then hit the reset button, let it reboot. Should be good to go.

I thought about it being an explorer problem simply because i can ping out and get a response from the command prompt screen. The internet is working since other computers arent haveing a problem. THis computer,ONLY, cant get on the net. I'll try uninstalling IE and loading firefox.

I am having the EXACT same problem you are describing. All indications are that the modem and router and working fine, and the laptop seems to believe it is. Im running Vista, but I dunno if that has anything to do with it. I plan on calling Linksys this weekend to see if they can help (usually good, but set aside a solid hour). Post if you find any answers and Ill do the same.
