OK, I just posted a thread about laptops. If I buy one, is it as easy as plugging it in and going to town? If you are in a hotel, how do you connect? I realize that the room will have a data port, so is it that easy? The hotel already has a provider and I just plug in?
Well, if it has a data port, then you aren't connecting sans wires. It depends on the service the hotel uses, but it's normally pretty easy to use the wireless access when they have it available. And if you are plugging into a data port, then generally you just have to plug that cable in and get to work.
Yeah Mac, its real easy. For places with free wireless access, yes, you just turn on your laptop and start surfing.
Some hotels have wireless some do not. And those that do, it may or may not be free. If your hotel is wired up, then yeah you just plug it in. Pretty easy.
I took free wireless for granted in Austin. Took a trip to Chicago and nobody had it, or I was at the wrong places.
sometimes you can just tap into their wireless without having to pay.
my laptop tells me is has detected a wireless connecting and asks me iif I want to connect. simple as that. haven't had to pay for wireless access at a hotel, yet. they must have kindergarteners set up their wireless networks.
i work for the largest wifi provider in the country. all you (in best case scenarios) have to do is open your laptop and connect wirelessly. with our service, you open IE and it redirects you to a welcome page where you purcahse a connection (or click through if it's free) and agree to the acceptable use policy. it's real simple.
Your wireless connector will look for any wireless network and then you choose the one you want. If its a secured network, then you have to provide a password. If not, you can just start surfing.
