Wireless boost

What do i need to do to go about boosting a wireless signal that doesn't reach my computer (way down the other end of a long hall and getting my computer ready for wireless?

the problem is that both computer and wireless access point must be able to connect to each other. that is, if you boost the power from the wap, the wap must also receive a strong enough signal from the remote computer's transceiver. with that in mind, there are a few things you could do:

you could install another wap/router between the two points and run it in repeater mode.

you could move the original wap to a more central location.

or you could run ethernet cable directly from the router to the computer. this is the best way, but requires some work in the attic.

Sounds like you could use a directional antenna...
